YALE MAKES GRADE WITH METALLICA

Napster Ban Allows Ivy League School To Pass
Yale University has been dropped from avenging rock band Metallica's lawsuit, now that it has agreed to ban MP3 file-swapping application Napster.

"Last Friday, we began to block Napster around the clock in response to the lawsuit and until we can clarify the legal issues surrounding Napster," Yale spokesman Tom Conroy told Reuters, adding, "Yale does not believe it has any liability to Metallica."

No word yet on whether the other schools named in the suit—USC and Indiana University—will follow, though the band's attorney, Howard King, is reportedly in talks with the former.

Meanwhile, in Cambridge, Mass., a sophomore in a crew-necked sweater remarked, "A Harvard man would never give up his file-sharing protocol."

We'll have more on this story after we pull an all-nighter.
