But We Like It; We Just Show Our Love In A Dysfunctional Way

NOT OUT OF THE WOODS YET
Just weeks after checking himself into an alcohol rehab clinic (hitsdailydouble.com, 7/3), Ron Wood, 53, has left the program, according to British reports. The British tabloids said Wood allegedly walked out of The Priory clinic Wednesday (7/12), and is now back at home with his wife Jo. We could not confirm reports that he found out that bandmate Keith Richards had taken over the pub on Wood's property, and had been calling the guitarist a "wussy." "He doesn't need rehab," Richards was overheard saying. "All he needs is a blood change and he could go on forever."

SNOOP DOGGED BY SUIT
A musician already suing rapper Snoop Dogg filed a second lawsuit in federal court alleging copyright infringement over a song on the "Snoop Dogg & The Eastsidaz" album. Francisco Rodriguez said the rapper, born Calvin Broadus, took the music for the song "Dogghouse" from a cassette tape given to another member of the Eastsidaz. Rodriguez first sued the rapper in August 1999 for copyright infringement. That case is set for trial Nov. 7. Rodriguez is seeking two dime bags of chronic in damages.

HIS REMASTERS' VOICE
Remastered releases from Van Halen, Eric Clapton and Rod Stewart will be among the 20 albums featured as part of the new Warner Remasters series. The label is picking selections from its catalog, all of which are being digitally remastered, and featuring the original album artwork and liner notes. The discs are due out Sept. 19. "Since we haven't been able to break any new acts in years, we figured putting these out would keep us afloat for a while," a label executive said.

TATTOO TREK TROUBLES TAINT TOUR
On the eve of the start of its Tattoo The Earth tour, Nashville Pussy bassist Corey Parks, the band's fire-breathing, main attraction, has decided to take an indefinite leave of absence. "This band has worked non-stop, touring and recording over the past four years," said the band's label, TVT Records. Parks will be replaced by Tracy Almazon. There was no confirmation that Parks' exit was "sparked" by her "accidental" torching of the other band members and their gear. Coal Chamber has also pulled out of the tour, deciding to hit the studio instead of the road. Reports that Parks inadvertently ignited Coal Chamber's tour bus during rehearsals could not be confirmed. Meanwhile, the new Nashville Pussy, along with Stone Temple Pilots, Sevendust, Slipknot, Slayer and Sepultura, among others, will continue on the trek. "It's just a coincidence that Coal Chamber doesn't begin with an S," an insider said. "But, if it were Soul Chamber… I'm sure their new album could wait."

STRAIT TO THE DOGS
Country superstar George Strait should probably stick to the dog-eat-dog world of the music business. Ed D'Avanzo is suing the singer, his production company and his manager for $2.4 million, claiming South Texas Pet Prods. failed because Strait refused to make personal appearances or meet with retailers of their Strait Nutrition Dog Food. Strait's defense attorney Tom Rogers said the company failed because D'Avanzo, whom he called a "weird sort," exaggerated his expertise and was an abrasive manager who offended suppliers and buyers. D'Avanzo fought back by calling Strait a "closet cat person."

"BENDER" BROUHAHA BEATS RYDER
Controversial British rocker Shaun Ryder missed a court appearance last week after a binge to celebrate the launch of his new single. Ryder was due to appear at Manchester Crown Court to act as a witness in a case that the former Happy Mondays frontman brought against a man, who allegedly drove his car into Ryder, knocking him off his bicycle. Charges against the driver were dropped when Ryder failed to show. The judge summoned Ryder to court to explain his absence. When he asked Ryder why he hadn't shown up, Ryder answered, "I was on a bender." Witnesses said Ryder left the courthouse on his bike with a pint in his hand.

THE VERVE OF ASHCROFT'S MANAGER!
Richard Ashcroft
's ex-manager Jazz Summers is suing his former client for being fired "out of the blue" last year. Lawyers acting on behalf of Summers issued a writ last week, citing breach of contract for an undisclosed sum, said to be "in excess of 50,000." Music Week says the claim centers on a Dec. 15th phone call Summers received from Ashcroft, former leader of The Verve, who fired him without notice. Summers alleges he received the news of his dismissal a day after invoicing Virgin for a 2 million advance for Ashcroft's solo album. Ashcroft said the sacking was "bittersweet," much like a "symphony."

SPICE GIRLS PREP GINGER-LESS 3rd RELEASE
Spice Girl Mel C.
said that the group's long-awaited third album (its first since 1997's "Spiceworld") is close to completion and should be in stores by November. The artist also known as Sporty Spice told Reuters that the foursome would soon shoot a video for the first single from the upcoming album. "It's not a mature album, but [it's] a little bit more mature than the first two," she said. "But not so mature as to alienate our core audience of 12-14 year-olds."
