BROWN ARRESTED IN NEW JERSEY
Singer Claims Jumping Probation Was "His Prerogative"
Singer Bobby Brown was arrested by customs agents at the Newark, NJ, airport on Wednesday (5/10) and transported to a Ft. Lauderdale, FL, jail on an outstanding Florida warrant stemming from an alleged probation violation, according to the Associated Press.
Brown, who was returning from a trip to the Bahamas, has been wanted in Florida since June of last year, when Brown's probation officer reported that the singer's urine tested positive for cocaine use and that the singer refused to be tested again.
Coming to Brown's defense, a friend of his explained, "That urine could just as easily have been Whitney's."
Brown, who lives in Mendham, NJ, with wife Whitney Houston, has been on probation for drunk driving ever since he connected Houston's sports car with a condominium sign in 1996. The singer is due in Broward County Circuit Court on May 22.
