ATOMIC POP, WINDOWS IN CONTENT DEAL

Atomic Pop has expanded its strategic marketing alliance with Microsoft by becoming a featured music content provider for WindowsMedia.com, the MSN guide to audio and video, and Windows Media Player 7 beta, which integrates content from the guide.

As a featured content provider, Atomic Pop will supply daily music and original entertainment content to WindowsMedia.com, including a mix of audio downloads, video interviews, DJ sets, music videos and live performances from such artists as Elliott Smith with John Doe, Ice-T, Femi Kuti, The Donnas, Yo La Tengo, Blood Of Abraham, Blackalicious, Cocteau Twins, Gas Giants, Slum Village, Kristin Hersh, Public Enemy, Robyn Hitchcock and Kid Koala.

"Providing WindowsMedia.com with daily music content takes our current relationship with Microsoft to another level," said Al Teller, Atomic Pop's founder and CEO. "The music content is now fully integrated into the player for a uniform experience, whether they are accessing our content from the site or through the player itself. And if they don't like that, we can always sell ‘em a zip disk with some songs on it."

As part of Atomic Pop's ongoing alliance with Microsoft, they will continue to offer thousands of individual tracks and albums for digital downloads from their catalog of over 4,000 songs accessible through the music section of WindowsMedia.com.

Meanwhile, Atomic Pop has announced that is suing MP3.com for the embattled netco's inclusion of Public Enemy material on its My.MP3.com service (which lost a summary judgment on 4/28). PE frontman Chuck D, who has been outspoken in his support of free music exchanges such as Napster, has not yet commented on this litigation.
