Today the San Diego-based company launched its Instant Music Program by delivering free, full-length "Net CDs" to 500,000 registered My.MP3.com users. The company will let registered and new users listen online to the full albums from top MP3.com artists such as Ex Number Five and Burn the Priest. Isn't it more interesting when they do something that ends up in a lawsuit?…Speaking of suits, the MTVi Group has named Paul "Chip It On the" Greenberg Vice President of Global Business Development. The one-time sportscaster will be responsible for identifying and negotiating strategic relationships for MTVi's Web sites—including MTV.com, VH1.com and sonicnet.com—and cleaning out Michael Goldberg's office… MTV's latest competitor, IMNTV, began broadcasting and Web casting videos from signed and unsigned bands today. Offline, it's available via digital satellite and on cable in Los Angeles, Miami, Orlando, San Diego and Norfolk, VA. The company guarantees that it will air every single video that meets its broadcast standards. Or at least put them on the Web… DataPlay, Inc. maker of the widely touted media disc the size of a quarter just snagged $50 million in funding from Universal Music Group, Toshiba Corporation, Samsung Electronics, S3 Incorporated, Imation Corporation and others. The company expects its micro-optical engine to be incorporated into digital music players, games and cell phones. But how stupid will you feel when you lose an album in the cushions of your couch?…Hip-hop mogul Master P launched his latest foray, No Limit Communications, with will offer a host of prepaid telecom products, including local home phone service, long distance calling cards and cellular services. We're still waiting for him to open a chain of movie houses so we can make a Master P's Theaters joke…Liquid Audio just snagged the rights to release the first exclusive commerical full-album download—the soundtrack to Mike Figgis' "Time Code." The album includes music from Skunk Anansie singer Skin and Everything But the Girl. Does this mean burning it on a CD and making it available offline is the way it will be pirated?…
