The Add Action at Top 40, Rhythm and Alternative

Buddy! It's Tuesday, and you know what that means: eight bong hits and quart of Mezcal. Oh, and also a survey of the add action at three key Mediabase formats. So load that bowl, fill that tumbler and let's rock.

TOP 40

The action was spread out this week, with Columbia picking up #1 Most Added honors for One Direction’s “Steal My Girl.” There were two on the list with big official impact weeks: Ariana Grande f/Zedd’s “Break Free” (Republic) and Magic!’s “Let Your Hair Down” (RCA). Capitol returned to the list with Sam Smith’s “I’m Not the Only One,” and Warner Bros. did the same with Nico & Vinz’s “In Your Arms.” Def Jam picked up a slot with Alesso f/Tove Lo’s “Heroes,” and Interscope closed out the action with Maroon 5’s “Animals” and Fergie’s “L.A. Love (La La).”

RHYTHM

In a tight race, will.i.am/Interscope's Fergie has a solid second week with "L.A. Love (La La)" and squeezes just past OVO/Warner Bros.' I Love Makonnen and the breakout single "Tuesday" f/Drake. Other songs with double-digit add weeks include Kendrick Lamar’s "i" (Aftermath/Interscope), Big Sean’s "I Don’t Fuck With You (IDFWU)" (G.O.O.D./Def Jam) and Jamie Foxx f/2 Chainz’s "Party Ain't A Party" (RCA). Republic earned a handful of new commitments for "Love Me Harder" by Ariana Grande f/The Weeknd and “Shake It Off” by Big Machine’s Taylor Swift.

ALTERNATIVE

Lorde's new "Yellow Flicker Beat" (Lava/Republic) was by far away the Most Added record this week at Modern Rock. Domino saw another strong week of closeout adds for Arctic Monkeys’ "R U Mine?" RCA had a real nice day with Walk The Moon's "Shut Up and Dance." Zuma Rock/RAL’s BUSH enjoyed another strong showing with "The Only Way Out." Black Mammoth/Warner Bros.Royal Blood has a record to watch in "Figure It Out," which saw a strong week of adds. Other winners included New Politics’ "Everywhere I Go" (Crush Music/DCD2), Banks’ "Beggin’ for Thread" (Harvest/Capitol) and Bleachers’ "Rollercoaster" (RCA).
