Yet another
Simon Cowell discovery and a veteran rock band from north of the border angle their way into the
HITS Vibe-Rater chart this week as the latest members of the coveted Sweet 16.
Syco/Columbia recording artist Rebecca Ferguson is making waves on this side of the Atlantic with her debut album, Heaven, and the fast-rising single, “Nothing’s Real But Love.” The X Factor U.K. runner-up is now crossing from Urban Adult to Hot Adult, with a VH1 “You Oughta Know” nod on tap for July and August, as Rick Krim picks another winner. There’s a Jay Leno spot coming June 26 after The Today Show and The View, with stateside promo dates slated for August. Modest Management’s Richard Griffiths and Harry Magee are trying to steer their latest client to the kind of success they’ve already experienced with One Direction. Coalition Entertainment/eOne recording artists Our Lady Peace return with Curve, their eighth studio album (but second self-released effort). The new track, “As Fast As You Can,” is getting early airplay on PoMo radio, including WEND, KRBZ and WZNE, among others. The video premiered on VEVO yesterday (6/13). The Raine Maida-led outfit, which formed in Toronto in the early ’90s, just concluded a sold-out club tour, with more North American dates through Sept. 16. The album’s first single, “Heavyweight,” which inspired the album cover photograph of Canadian boxer George Chuvalo, came out last December. For more info, click here.
