JUSTIN'S BUSTIN' OUT

Mercury Nashville's Kacey Musgraves Debuts Behind Year's Biggest Bow
It all started with the release of the first single, “Suit & Tie,” a collaboration with Jay-Z, followed by performances on the Grammys, Saturday Night Live and SXSW, culminating in a week on Jimmy Fallon.

Thanks to a crack setup by Peter Edge, Tom Corson and Joe Riccitelli’s RCA team and the nonstop energy of the star himself, Justin Timberlake’s The 20/20 Experience culminates in a triumphant #1 debut, with sales of more than 980k, surpassing all expectations.

Some quick factoids: The album immediately becomes the year’s best-seller to date with the highest sales total since Taylor Swift's Red moved 1.2 million last fall, and tops Lil Wayne’s 964k for Tha Carter IV in September 2011. Sales estimates for the album began at slightly more than 500k and continued to climb in the ensuing weeks.

Mercury Nashville’s Kacey Musgraves’ critically acclaimed Same Trailer Different Park is the week’s other top debut, landing at #2 with 42k, followed by two previous chart-toppers in Atlantic’s Bruno Mars (#3) and Capitol Nashville’s Luke Bryan (#4).

Benefiting from a smash third single, “Just Give Me a Reason,” RCA’s P!nk gives Nipper two in the Top 5, climbing #10-5, +21%, thanks also to a $7.99 iTunes sale.

Last week’s chart leader, Island’s Bon Jovi, drops #1-6, followed by KidInaKorner/Interscope’s Imagine Dragons (#13-7, +2%), Glassnote’s Mumford & Sons (#8), Def Jam’s Rihanna (#9) and Republic’s Les Miserables soundtrack, which returns to the chart on the heels of the release of an “unedited” edition and the DVD.

Top 50 newcomers include Weathermaker’s Clutch (#17) and Vagrant’s Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (#38), while Capitol Nashville’s Eric Church (#41), RCA’s Justin Timberlake FutureSex/LoveSounds (#44), 19/Arista Nashville’s Carrie Underwood (#45) and the previous Bruno Mars album Doo-Wops & Hooligans (#47) all return to the chart.

Young Money/Cash Money/Republic’s Lil Wayne tops this week’s new releases, with Warner Bros. Nashville’s Blake Shelton, RCA’s The Strokes, Columbia’s Depeche Mode, Capitol Nashville’s Alan Jackson, Interscope’s One Republic and will.i.am albums, Stoney Creek’s Thompson Square, RCA’s Dido and 7 BrothersSevendust all vying for chart position.
