VIBE DEBUTS: A FLIGHT
OF POMO BANDS

Broken Bells, Foster the People and Phantogram Bow on Our Buzz-Band Roundup
Three PoMo acts debut on our Vibe Raters roundup of buzzing artists this week, so slip on your most ironic T-shirt, order yourself a grande half-caf caramel macchiato and let’s rock this bitch.

Bowing at #9 is Columbia duo Broken Bells—aka Danger Mouse with James Mercer from the Shins—whose shimmering, funky "Holding on for Life" (from new album After the Disco, which streets on 2/4) is enjoying Top 15 love at Alternative radio. The clip, meanwhile, has already earned over 1 million online views as well as MTV2 fixation. The band’s sold-out stateside tour kicks off on 2/28. Rolling Stone named their new set "the most anticipated" of the new year, and the other press coverage ahead of street date has been similarly effusive.

Another Columbia band, Foster the People, returns with "Coming of Age," the bouncy lead track from their forthcoming full-length, Supermodel (due on 3/18). The L.A. based band’s follow-up to its huge debut (powered by multiformat monster "Pumped Up Kicks") is taking PoMo radio by storm. The track’s unofficial "time lapse" video garnered more than 200k views in its first day; the official clip is currently in production. With press love already piling up, the band plays a couple of dates in the Pacific Northwest this weekend, and its official tour will kick off at Coachella.

Republic’s Phantogram also arrive on the scene with "Fall in Love." The New York-based electro-rockers are doing phantastically at Alternative radio, hovering in the Top 20, and hit #1 on both Spotify’s Viral chart and Hype Machine. Their sold-out headlining tour ended in December, with a new leg set to start on 2/18, which also happens to be the street date for the band’s full-length, Voices. A video is currently in production.

In other Vibe news, Black Magnetic/Epic’s A Great Big World occupies the top spot, followed by Glassnote’s Childish Gambino and Virgin’s Bastille. Check out the whole thang right here.
