NEW IN VIBE: DEMI, ZZ AND RHYE

Hollywood Puts Two New Acts on the Board; Alabama Shakes, Miguel, Passion Pit Top Our Round-Up of Buzz
We've got three debuts in Vibe-Raters this week, and steady upward movement among the artists at the top of our heap.

Here's what's new: Hollywood pop goddess Demi Lovato arrives riding the momentum of "Heart Attack," which flew to #1 at iTunes mere hours after being leaked online by Ryan Seacrest (it's occupied that iTunes perch in 16 countries). Multi-format love soon followed, with Top 40 and Hot Adult action including Z100, WNOW, KIIS, WBBM, KMVQ, KREV, KHKS, WIHT, WIOQ, WWPW, WKKS, WODS, KHTS, KEGY, WFLZ, WPOI, WDZH, KDWB and plenty more. This song--from the siren's TBD fifth album--is as serious as its title.

Lovato's enjoyed 5.5 million video content views--1 million for the lyric video that bowed 3/1. The official clip is due in April. With a ridiculous Twitter reach, she commands a huge and quickly mobilized base. Which is to say it's Demi's monde; we just live in it.

ZZ Ward re-enters Vibe this week as her Hollywood/Boardwalk album debut, Til the Casket Drops, begins to take off and single "Put the Gun Down" hits 10 at Triple A with help from Sirius XM Pulse, Spectrum, WQKL, KFOG, KTCZ, KPRI, KBCO, WRNR and many more. There's also PoMo love, with a KTCL show slated for 3/15.

The "Gun" video, having passed 1.6 million online views, just nabbed a VH1 add. Her current, sold-out co-headlining dates with Delta Rae will be followed by SXSW shows 3/12-3/16. VH1 Big Morning Buzz (3/6) and Good Morning America (3/7) performances are creating further awareness of the album, which is out and selling.

Republic/Loma Vista's Rhye, a duo featuring producers Mike Milosh and Robin Hannibal, leapt into the iTunes Top 10 this week with their album Woman. College and Non-Com have led the radio story on lead single "Open" so far, with early believers on the commercial side including KDGE and 98.7. The pair, who have three SXSW shows booked (3/14-3/15), have earned more than 1 million online video views--not to mention critical adoration including Pitchfork's Pick of the Day, The New York Times Sunday Arts Section and NPR's All Things Considered.

And what of Vibe's veterans, you ask? Alabama Shakes retain the top post, Miguel moves to #2, Passion Pit jumps three places to #3 and Emeli Sande moves up to #4. You can read all about it here.
