FRIDAY CHART PREVIEW

What to Expect on Next Week's
Mediabase Charts

Buddy! TGIF, right? I know! Drinks soon? Abso-fucking-lutely. Anyhoo, let's take a peek at what four key Mediabase charts will look like next week.

TOP 40
The only real movement on the chart this week will be in the middle. The three on top—PRMD/Island/IDJ’s Avicii, Lava/Republic’s Lorde and RCA’s Miley Cyrus—will remain in place, while the rest of the Top 10 plays musical chairs. “The Monster” from Eminem f/Rihanna (Shady/Aftermath/Interscope) and OneRepublic’s “Counting Stars” (Interscope) both climb to the Top 20. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis (Macklemore) will move firmly into the mid-20s and will be joined by Columbia’s swiftly moving One Direction with “Story of My Life,” which should land at #26. The bottom half of the chart will also see a lot of musical chairs, but things look set to change next week.

RHYTHMIC
Once again, Drake’s “Hold On” (YM/CM/Republic) keeps the #1 spot. Macklemore’s “White Walls” (Macklemore) jumps into the Top 5, and Sage the Gemini climbs into the Top 10. “Show Me” from RCA’s Kid Ink has a great increase this week, as does Juicy J’s “Bounce It” (Kemosabe/Columbia); both make it into the Top 25. Pitbull “Timber” f/Ke$ha (RCA) and Tyga f/Justin Bieber “Wait for a Minute” (YM/CM/Republic) look to debut this week. Future “Real And True” f/Miley Cyrus (A-1/Freebandz/Epic) and Y.G. “My Hitta” f/Jeezy & RichHomie Quan (CTE/Def Jam/IDJ) expect to have solid commitment weeks; they impact this Tuesday.

ALTERNATIVE
RCA
’s Cage the Elephant will have the new #1 record in the land on Monday with “Come A Little Closer.” There are no changes in the Top 10 apart from MS MR (Columbia) bouncing back in with “Hurricane.” XL’s Vampire Weekend is having a nice week of spins with “Unbelievers,” which will move inside the Top 20 to #18. Matador’s Queen of the Stone Age will make a good move, #33-27, with “I Sat by the Ocean.” Island/IDJ’s The Airborne Toxic Event is making moves with “Hell and Back,” which will quickly move to #33. New Politics (RCA) will debut on the chart with follow-up single “Tonight You’re Perfect.”

HOT AC
The next number one single will be PRMD/Island/IDJ’s Avicii, which will begin its takeover move on Monday. OneRepublic (Interscope) will be next up after that, and their labelmates Imagine Dragons will enter the Top 5 arena shortly. RCA’s Miley Cyrus is beginning her twerk toward the tightly packed Top Ten, while Island/IDJ band American Authors seems to be getting another synch every time we turn on the TV or go to the movies. Black Magnetic/Epic’s A Great Big World has shipped the version of their “Say Something” featuring Christina Aguilera singing harmony; with its enormous sales burst, the song should instantly became a future #1 contender.
