USHERING IN A #1 ALBUM

Rush, Ed Sheehan, Josh Turner, Waka Flocka Flame Debut in Top 10
There’s no bottleneck at the top of the HITS Album sales chart this week.

RCA R&B star Usher debuts at #1 with his new album, Looking 4 Myself, which scores 124k in first-week sales.

The total is more than enough to turn back veteran Canadian prog-rockers Rush’s Roadrunner bow, Clockwork Angels, entering at #2 with an impressive 95k. That’s a lotta back bacon, folks.

XL/Columbia Grammy-winning diva Adele’s 21 moves down to #3 from #1, adding another 60 to her 69-week total, now at 9.4 million.

New Elektra Brit winner Ed Sheeran’s + bows at #4 with 44k, followed by MCA Nashville country-rocker Josh Turner’s Punching Bag at #5.

Reprise rock legends Neil Young & Crazy Horse use bundled album with tour ticket sales to remain at #6, up 16%, with Syco/Columbia boy band phenoms One Direction right behind them at #7.

Capitol Nashville/EMI’s first Alan Jackson album, Thirty Miles West, closes out the leader board at #10.

UMe’s Now Country 5 (#14), Hollywood’s Grace Potter & the Nocturnals (#16), Tha Alumni’s rap prodigy Kid Ink (#20), Warner Bros.’ Jimmy Fallon (#24), Mom + Pop’s Metric (#25), Walt Disney’s Let It Shine soundtrack (#32) and Big Machine’s Edens Edge (#40) are all Top 50 newcomers.

Thanks to Father’s Day iTunes sales, Columbia’s Journey Greatest Hits re-enters at #27, along with Geffen’s Guns N’ Roses best-of (#42). Columbia’s Train (#29) also returns to the chart.

Other double-digit gainers include Mercury Nashville’s Lionel Richie (#15-13, +36%), Blue Note/EMI’s Norah Jones (#24-21, +27%), Republic’s Of Monsters & Men (#28-26, +27%), Vagrant’s Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros (#35-34, +26%), Big Machine’s Rascal Flatts (#45-44, +16%), Capitol Nashville/EMI’s Eric Church (#20-19, +15%), Capitol/EMI’s Katy Perry (#40-39, +15%) and Curb’s Lee Brice (#48, +12%).

This week’s new releases are headed by IDJ’s Justin Bieber, followed by Blue Chair/Columbia Nashville’s Kenny Chesney, with Clean Slate/Epic’s Fiona Apple, EMI Label Services’ Smashing Pumpkins, RCA’s Walk the Moon and Anti-/ADA’s Glen Hansard also on tap.
