THIS CHART’S A LITTLE KNOTTY

Slipknot #1; Neil Diamond Grabs #2 With 32nd Studio Album; PTX Brings Xmas in October

Slipknot tops the HITS Building Album Sales Chart this week with 127k for .5: The Gray Chapter.

Their previous release earned 240k in first week sales back in 2008.

Meanwhile, Capitol’s Neil Diamond snagged 82k, earning him the #2 position for the Don Was-produced Melody Road.

At #3, Grand Hustle/Columbia’s T.I. bowed with 74k. Just behind, Def Jam’s buzzing rapper Logic landed at #4, raking in nearly 72k for his debut full-length.

RCA’s viral sensations Pentatonix (#9) grabbed 33k for their early Christmas release. Expect this one to continue to grow throughout Q4.

Other debuts in the Top 15 include albums from Capitol Nashville’s Little Big Town (#8, 40k), Blue Note’s Annie Lennox (#10, 28k) and RCA’s Aretha Franklin (#13, 23k). SYCO/Columbia’s Susan Boyle bubbled just under at #16 with 19k for Hope.

Last week’s chart-toppers, Republic Nashville’s Florida Georgia Line slide to #5, bringing Country another 59k (-71%). Hot on their heels, Broken Bow’s Jason Aldean remains just one slot below at #6 this week with 56k (-39%).

And Babs is still buttah, sauntering to #7, down a mere 1% with about 41k. You might as well light the menorah, boychik, because this one's gonna be burning until the holidays.

Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga see a 9% sales bump at #12 with around 27k, and Columbia’s Hozier rounds out the Top 15 with 20k (-2%).
