TUESDAY CHART WRAP-UP

JT, PJ and Other Big Winners at Three Key Mediabase Radio Formats

Yep, RCA's on fire, with Justin and Miley killin' it, Britney living up to her "Work" mantra and more, and Republic's taking Modern Rock back to its roots with big action on Pearl Jam. But that's just part of the radio tale. Read on for more about the chart action at three key Mediabase formats.

TOP 40
Here’s something you don’t often see: RCA has the three Most Added records at Top 40 this week. The special week for Joe Riccitelli and his crew started off with Justin Timberlake’s latest, “TKO,” picking up a whopping 66 stations, including KAMP, KIIS, Z100 and WKSC. Britney Spears came next with another 60 stations on “Work Bitch,” putting her on well over 100 in her second week. Then the hottest of them all, Miley Cyrus, closed out the format with her megahit “Wrecking Ball.” Meanwhile, Def Jam/IDJ’s Rihanna picked up 33 new stations with “What Now.” ”Let Her Go,” the strong single by Nettwerk/WBR’s Passenger, notched 28 stations in its first week. Other closeouts included the tireless AWOLNATION, Bonnie McKee, Selena Gomez, and Republic’s John Newman.

RHYTHM
RCA’s Justin Timberlake scores a “T.K.O” on the Most Added this week, taking #1 honors. Naya Rivera f/Big Sean “Sorry” (Columbia) T Pain’s “Up Down” (RCA), Rihanna’s “What Now” (Def Jam/IDJ) and Jason Derulo’s “Marry Me” (Warner Bros.) all have solid first weeks. Lorde’s “Royals” (Lava/Republic) Ariana Grande f/Big Sean “Right There” (Republic) and Sage The Gemini’s “Gas Pedal” (Empire/Republic) continue to clean up the stragglers. Look for Katy Perry’s “Roar” (Capitol), Lorde, Big Sean’s “Beware” (G.O.O.D./Def Jam/IDJ) and RCA’s Miley Cyrus to have big spin increases this week.

ALTERNATIVE
Timeless is the word that comes to mind when describing Pearl Jam's monster first week with their latest single, “Sirens” (Brushfire/Republic), by far the #1 Most Added song in PoMo land this week. Warner Bros. also fared exceptionally well with Linkin Park's latest, “A Light That Never Comes.” Other winners included Coldplay's “Atlas” (on Republic’s Hunger Games: Catching Fire ST) and a excellent second week for Merge’s Arcade Fire. Columbia's MS MR breaks through with “Hurricane” in its nineteenth week, and Glassnote's Chvrches impresses with “The Mother We Share.”

Well, this has been fun, but we've got to go murder a bottle now.
