CARRIE CARRIES THE DAY AT THE CMT MUSIC AWARDS
Show Ropes in Obama and Romney for a Mock-Election Skit

American Idol alums Carrie Underwood and Scotty McCreery were among the artists who got some love from the CMT Music Awards, which were held Wednesday night in Nashville and broadcast on the cable channel.

Underwood was the only double winner, picking up silver buckles in both Video of the Year, for “Good Girl,” and Collaborative Video for “Remind Me,” her duet with Brad Paisley. "I'd like to thank this beautiful woman for being in the video, otherwise it's just a dork walking through the desert," Paisley said.

The annual event, which is essentially the country equivalent of MTV’s Video Music Awards, was hosted by Toby Keith and Kristen Bell.

President Obama and Mitt Romney made taped appearances on the show, which kicked off with a mock election pitting Keith and Bell against each other to see who would be the best host, Jon Bon Jovi stating that, "as country goes, so goes the country."

"This is one of the toughest decisions I've had to make since I've been in office," Obama said. "I want them both."
"I thought the presidential election was rough, but that is nothing compared with the politics at the CMT Awards," Romney said. "I think I have the solution though. I propose Toby and Kristen co-host the show. See, I just put two people back to work."

Here’s a complete list of the winners:

—Video of the Year: Carrie Underwood, “Good Girl”
—Male Video of the Year: Luke Bryan, “I Don’t Want This Night to End”
—Female Video of the Year: Miranda Lambert, “Over You”

—Duo Video of the Year: Thompson Square, “I Got You”
—Breakthrough Video of the Year: Scotty McCreery, “The Trouble With Girls”
—Collaborative Video of the Year: Brad Paisley with Carrie Underwood, “Remind Me”
