This snowball effect will be powered by the release of the animated blockbuster's DVD, which could well move more than 2 million copies in its first week, along with post-Oscar momentum for Idina Menzel's rendition of Best Song victor "Let It Go," which has soared into the Top 5 at iTunes.
The album is currently #9 at iTunes, having been momentarily displaced by a raft of new releases, but it will surely ascend as the DVD/Blu-ray (and the song's continued growth) drive further demand.
Frozen the movie has been available as a digital download on iTunes for some time. But the DVD campaign, as we noted yesterday, is intense and includes tie-in deals with Disney's bountiful merch via Target and other retailers.
And "Let It Go" has truly broken out as the musical touchstone of the flick, with Menzel's powerhouse Oscar performance (despite John Travolta's mangling of her name) not only happening at retail but gathering velocity at Pop radio as well.
Ken Bunt and team definitely see the upside of inclement weather.
Keep an eyeball on our chart as it builds today to determine the fate not only of Disney's frosty wonder but debuts from Luke Bryan, Aloe Blacc and Young Money, among others.
