Eastdil Secured Will Handle Sale of 550 Madison Avenue
Sony Music’s 36-story, 800k squre-foot 550 Madison Avenue location, where the music group has been housed since moving from CBS headquarters on W. 52nd Street, is on the market, according to a report in today’s N.Y. Post.

Eastidil Secured, the broker responsible for the $1.8 billion sale of 111 Eighth Ave. to Google has won a high-stakes competition to market the building. The real estate company is also selling Worldwide Plaza, another mega-building on Manhattan’s West Side.

Sony Corp. of America’s Nicole Seligman announced the hiring of a real estate consultant for a possible sale and future move a few weeks ago in an inter-office memo.

Eastidil’s investment sales team have dominated the city’s office sales market over the past decade. Another company will be hired to lead the search for Sony’s new city headquarters, with the possibilities including a new building in Hudson Yards or the World Trade Center. Time Warner Center, which will also soon be on the block, is another possibility for Sony’s new U.S. corporate home.
