One Direction Lands at #1 with 536k+, Twilight, The Weeknd, Soundgarden, Christina Aguilera, Lana Del Rey and Green Day Debut Top 10
The British are still coming. Syco/Columbia teen heartthrobs One Direction’s sophomore album, Take Me Home, scores a #1 debut, with nearly 540k in sales, the third-highest debut of the year after Taylor Swift and Mumford & Sons.

The U.K. boy band is one of seven debuts in this week’s Top 10, with the lone holdovers Big Machine’s Taylor Swift (#2), Verve’s Rod Stewart Merry Christmas Baby album (#5) and Capitol’s Now 44 (#8).

Chop Shop/Atlantic’s Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn 2 (#3), XO/Republic’s The Weeknd (#4), Seven Four/Republic’s Soundgarden (#6), RCA’s Christina Aguilera (#7), Interscope’s Lana Del Rey Paradise EP (#9) and Reprise’s Green Day Dos album (#10).

Other Top 50 newcomers include Reprise’s Deftones (#11), Syco/Columbia’s Susan Boyle (#12), RCA’s Whitney Houston Best of (#15), UMe’s Rolling Stones Grrr! Greatest Hits (#18), Blaster/WB Nashville’s Aaron Lewis (#29), Hear Music’s Holidays Rule compilation (#42), Madison Gate’s Pentatonix (#43), FearlessMotionless in White (#48) and Columbia’s Trent Reznor project, How to Destroy Angels (#50).

Thanks to a new expanded edition, Lana Del Rey’s Born to Die re-enters at #36, while New Elektra’s Ed Sheeran is back at #49.

This week’s biggest double-digit gainers include the first One Direction album (#24-23, +39%), A&M/Octone’s Maroon 5 (#22, +34%), RCA’s P!nk (#20, +30%), Reprise’s Michael Buble (#21, +29%), Capitol Nashville’s Lady Antebellum (#16, +26%) and Verve’s Rod Stewart (#5, +21%)..

This week’s releases include Rihanna, Kid Rock, Led Zeppelin, Phillip Phillips, Keyshia Cole, Kelly Clarkson, Pitbull and Coldplay.
