Marty Bandier Pubbery Is Names Top Pop Publisher of the Year

So far, 2013 is turning into a very good year for Marty Bandier’s Sony/ATV Music.

The company picked up Publisher of the Year honors at both the ASCAP and SESAC Awards ceremonies, and didn’t do too badly at BMI, either.

With 22 of the year’s most performed songs, the House Marty Built took top honors at the ASCAP Awards last month in L.A. for the second time in four years, presented to the company by CEO John LoFrumento.

Meanwhile, at the 17th annual SESAC Pop Awards held last week at the N.Y. Public Library, Sony/ATV honors included 2012’s Song of the Year, Trey Songz’s “Heart Attack.” The song’s writer, Rico Love, was also honored for penning an extraordinary six of the evening’s honored songs including, in addition to "Heart Attack," Melanie Fiona's “4 AM," Mary J. Blige's “Mr. Wrong" feat. Drake, Rick Ross' “Touch’N You” feat. Usher, Kelly Rowland's “Motivation” feat. Lil Wayne and David Guetta's “Without You” feat. Usher.

The BMI Pop Awards, which also took place last week in Beverly Hills, saw yet another contingent of Sony/ATV songwriters receiving awards for this past year’s biggest hits, including Karmin’s “Brokenhearted," Lady Gaga’s “You and I” and fun.’s “We Are Young.”
