A Great Big World’s “Say Something” (Black Magnetic/Epic) has another 1000+ spin increase and, with its great callout and sales, should edge closer to Top 10.

FRIDAY CHART PREVIEW

A Picture of Next Week's Pop, Rhythmic and Alternative Radio Charts

It's the year 2014. Humans communicate, play music, take photographs, engage in commerce, plot their traffic routes and locate pornography via portable devices. Marijuana is legal in Colorado and gay marriage is being recognized around the nation. It sure feels like the future. But we're going to give you a genuine look at the future, at least as it regards three key radio formats.

TOP 40
Team Interscope continues its streak atop the chart as "Story of My Life" by SYCO/Columbia’s One Direction and Passenger’s "Let Her Go" (Warner Bros.) make strong moves toward the Top 5. "Dark Horse" by Capitol’s Katy Perry is this week’s Greatest Gainer; it’s poised to enter the Top 10 next week. A Great Big World’s "Say Something" (Black Magnetic/Epic) has another 1000+ spin increase and, with its great callout and sales, should edge closer to Top 10. Lorde’s "Team" (Lava/Republic) and Beyoncé’s "XO" (Columbia), "Pompeii" by Virgin’s Bastille and Miley Cyrus’ "Adore You" (RCA) all have solid spin increases. Hollywood does a great job with help from the callout story on "Replay" by Zendaya and moves the track up the chart. Warner Bros.’ Jason Derulo will chart with a strong spin week on "Talk Dirty."

RHYTHMIC
After a week in which most every record was down (as expected), the pendulum swings back in the other direction. Inside the Top 10, look for huge spin gains from Kid Ink’s "Show Me" (RCA) as well as Pitbull f/Kesha’s "Timber." Records climbing into the Top 15 include YG "My Hitta" (CTE/Def Jam/IDJ), Beyoncé’s "Drunk in Love" (Columbia) and Katy Perry’s "Dark Horse" (Capitol). Other records having a big week include Beyoncé’s "XO," Lorde’s "Team" (Lava/Republic), Jason Derulo’s "Talk Dirty" (Warner Bros.) and John Legend’s "All Of Me" (Columbia). The chart is sure to balance itself out next week.

ALTERNATIVE
RCA
’s Cage the Elephant will stay #1 for one more week with "Come A Little Closer." We should see a new #1 soon after that, with Arctic Monkeys’ big hit, "Do I Wanna Know?" (Domino) about to prevail. While we were gone, The Neighbourhood (Columbia) gets a Top 5 record with "Afraid." The holidays brought new momentum for Chvrches (Glassnote), which sits at #12 with "The Mother We Share." Queens of the Stone Age are hot with "I Sat By The Ocean" and Island/IDJ’s The Airborne Toxic Event will make a nice move inside the Top 20 with "Hell and Back." Look for Republic’s Phantogram to move up the chart quickly with what looks to be a big hit, "Fall in Love." We’ll also see chart debuts for Silversun Pickups and Virgin’s Bastille, with followup single "Bad Blood."

Wow, the world of tomorrow sure looks exciting, don't it? Speaking of which, we see a giant tumbler of bourbon in our future.
