BROWN TOWN!!

Atlantic’s Zac Brown Band and Def Jam/IDJ’s Frank Ocean Go 1-2
One good Brown deserves another.

One week after RCA’s Chris Brown topped the HITS Album sales chart, Atlantic country rockers Zac Brown Band’s Uncaged bows at #1 with close to 240k.

Def Jam/IDJ R&B phenom Frank Ocean’s Channel Orange enters at #2 in an iTunes exclusive made available after his acclaimed performance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon a week ago Monday. The physical album hits today, without the support of Target, who refused to stock it in protest of the singer-songwriter giving Apple a digital head start. Ocean, a member of the controversial L.A. rap collective Odd Future, has caused a stir in the mainstream media by addressing two of the songs on the new album to a male love object, confessing to it all on his Tumblr blog site. He performs at the Wiltern in L.A. tonight.

Island/IDJ’s Justin Bieber (#3), A&M/Octone’s Maroon 5 (#4) and RCA’s Brown (#5) round out the leaderboard, with Capitol’s Katy Perry (#6), WB’s Linkin Park (#7), Syco/Columbia’s One Direction (#8), XL/Columbia’s Adele (#9) and Blue Chair/Columbia Records Nashville’s Kenny Chesney (#10) completing the Top 10.

Other Top 40 newcomers include Warner Bros. Nashville’s Hank Williams Jr. (#15), Razor & Tie’s P.O.D. (#16), New Elektra’s Marina & the Diamonds (#31), Atlantic’s Hunter Hayes (#40), Rhymesayer/ILG’s Aesop Rock (#44) and Domino’s Dirty Projectors (#49).

Atlantic’s previous Zac Brown Band album, You Get What You Give, re-enters at #19, followed by ATO’s Alabama Shakes (#29), WaterTower Music’s Project X soundtrack (#41) and MCA Nashville’s Josh Turner (#43) all re-enter the chart.

The week’s two top double-digit gainers are YM/CM/Republic’s Drake ($49-26, +38%) and Capitol Nashville’s Eric Church (#34-13, +32%).

Hitting this week at retail are Def Jam/IDJ’s Nas, Razor & Tie’s Kidz Bop Kidz, WB’s The Farm, Inc., Thirty Tiers/RED’s Matisyahu, 19/Interscope’s Phillip Phillips and Eleven Seven’s Hellyeah!
