The Add Action at Top 40, Rhythm and Alternative

Hey, buddy! Nothing like a 1m+ album bow to set the biz ablaze, huh? Let’s celebrate! Drinks are on you. Before we throw a few back, take a peek at the add action at three key Mediabase radio formats.

TOP 40

For the second week in a row, Republic had three entries in the Most Added column. Big Machine’s Taylor Swift nabbed #1 Most Added honors with “Blank Space” ahead of next week’s official impact. Meanwhile, Ariana Grande & The Weeknd’s “Love Me Harder” came back for a fifth week, and Jessie J. f/2 Chainz’s “Burnin’ Up” made a return appearance. Columbia had two on the list with Hozier’s “Take Me to Church” for a third week and The Script’s “Superheroes” on impact. RCA closed out the panel on Mr. Probz’s “Waves” and picked up another slot with Sia’s “You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile.” Interscope made it three weeks on the list with Gwen Stefani’s “Baby Don’t Lie,” and Def Jam came back for a second week with Iggy Azalea f/MØ’s “Beg for It,” as did Capitol with Eden XO’s “Too Cool to Dance.”

RHYTHM

Republic has reason to celebrate, as Nicki Minaj f/Drake, Lil Wayne & Chris Brown’s "Only" narrowly edged Schoolboy Q’s "Hell of a Night" (Top Dawg/Interscope) to take Most Added honors. Over at Def Jam, Big Sean’s "IDFWU" (G.O.O.D./Def Jam) also had double-digit commitments and Iggy Azalea f/MØ’s "Beg for It" (Grand Hustle/Def Jam) grabbed nine more stations. Bobby Shmurda’s "Hot Boy" (Epic) and Dej Loaf’s "Try Me" (Columbia) pulled in five stations each.

ALTERNATIVE

Imagine Dragons’ new single, "I Bet My Life" (KidInAKorner/Interscope), was by far away the Most Added song at Modern Rock this week. Harvest’s Banks had another good week with "Beggin for Thread," as did Black Mammoth/Warner Bros.Royal Blood and the blazing "Figure It Out." Other winners included "Budapest," by Columbia’s George Ezra, and "Shut Up and Dance," by RCA’s Walk The Moon.
