Former Sony Music President/COO Knows a Thing or Two About Lawyers, Guns N’ Money

Michele Anthony is back where she belongs, working as a high-level major-label player. UMG has named the highly regarded veteran to the newly created post of Executive Vice President, U.S. Recorded Music, reporting directly to Universal ruler Lucian Grainge. She starts Nov. 1.

In making the announcement, Grainge said, “There are scarce executives in music with the depth of Michele’s experience on both the label and artist sides of the industry. Michele’s versatility and creative approach to business will make her a valuable addition to our management team.”

Said Anthony, “Over the past several years, Lucian Grainge has transformed Universal Music into the industry’s most progressive music company.
