Republic Soundtrack Tops Chart; Mumford, Taylor Swift, One Direction, Phillip Phillips Top 5
Fueled by enthusiastic audiences, Oscar fever and based on the beloved Broadway musical, Republic’s Les Miserables film soundtrack is the big post-holiday winner, landing at #1 on the HITS Album sales chart, adding another 109k to a total now nearing 300k in its third week of release.

Multi-Grammy-nominated Glassnote Records banjo strummers Mumford & Sons rise up to #2 with 97k for a cumulative 1.6 million sold for their sophomore album, Babel.

Big Machine’s Taylor Swift (now over 3.2 million at #3), Syco/Columbia’s One Direction (1.4 million at #4) and 19/Interscope’s Idol winner Phillip Phillips (611k at #5) round out the leaders.

The rest of the Top 10 includes Atlantic’s Bruno Mars (#6), Dualtone’s surging “Ho Hey” kids The Lumineers (#7), UMe’s surging Pitch Perfect soundtrack (thanks to the DVD release at #8), RCA’s Alicia Keys (#9) and labelmate P!nk (#10).

Hitting retail today are A&M/Octone’s Hollywood Undead, Capitol’s Conor Maynard and Lava/Republic’s Black Veil Brides.
