Taylor Swift drops a mere 23% in the third week, earning her #1 honors, and Foo Fighters debut at #2, while Pink Floyd, Garth Brooks and Big K.R.I.T. follow respectively. Nick Jonas debuts Top 10, as holiday albums flood the Top 15.
TAYLOR'S TRIPLE PLAY
1989 Remains #1 in Third Week; Foo Fighters debut #2; Holiday Albums Heat Up

Taylor Swift’s 1989 (Big Machine), which spends its third week atop the HITS Building Album Sales Chart this week, raking in a whopping 309k (-23%) and getting within a hair's breadth of 2 million RTD.

Meanwhile, those guys from HBO, also known as Roswell/RCA’s Foo Fighters, pull in 190k with Sonic Highways at #2, while Pink Floyd's The Endless River (Columbia) bows with 167k, good for #3.

Two more debuts appear in the Top 5. Man Against Machine by Pearl/RCA Nashville’s Garth Brooks, hobbled by the country star's spurning of iTunes (among other issues), takes the #4 slot with 126k.

Def Jam’s Big K.R.I.T. opens at #5 with 42k, while Island’s Nick Jonas has the only other debut in the Top 10, scoring 37k for the self-titled album at #7.

Meanwhile, the scent of eggnog and evergreen is clearly in the air as RCA’s Pentatonix sees a 131% bump for That’s Christmas to Me, which moves #22-8 in its fourth week, while Disney's Frozen rakes in another 27k (+54%) at #12, bringing their total to more than 3.5m RTD since last November.

Will Tay beat out the beloved Disney soundtrack for biggest record of the year? Stay tuned.

If you’re trying to stay warm this winter, just snuggle up to a copy of Sam Smith’s In the Lonely Hour. The breakout smash is generating heat aplenty, sitting at #9 with 31k (+14%) in its 22nd week on the chart.

Speaking of stocking stuffers, Reprise’s Michael Buble bows with 27k for Christmas (#11) and Warner Bros.Idina Menzel enjoys a solid #29-14 jump with 26k for Holiday Wishes, up 128%.

Streeting this week is the keenly awaited FOUR by SYCO/Columbia's One Direction, not to mention from Republic's NickelbackLava/Republic's Hunger Games, RCA's Annie, TV on the Radio (Harvest) and a David Bowie box set (Columbia). So that should cover a big chunk of your gift list right there.

In other news, studies show that every time someone utters “One Direction,” 500 teenage girls scream, faint, wake up, post something to Instagram and start screaming again.
