LUKE BRYAN UPSET WIN AT ACMs, ALDEAN, LAMBERT HONORED

Bryan Tops Favorites Blake Shelton and Taylor Swift at CBS Awards Bash for Entertainer of the Year
Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean and Miranda Lambert were the big winners at last night’s Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas.

The CBS-televised event saw Bryan, who co-hosted the event with Blake Shelton, pull off an upset by topping Shelton and two-time winner Taylor Swift for “Entertainer of the Year” honors. Swift, nominated for four awards, was shut out on the evening.

Bryan is the first male winner of the award since 2007 when Kenny Chesney won the initial fan-voted award. Swift and Carrie Underwood have won two apiece since then.

Lambert earned her fourth straight Female Vocalist of the Year honors (joining Reba McEntire and Loretta Lynn as the only performers to win the honor four or more times), as well as both Record of the Year and Song of the Year for “Over You,” a ballad she co-wrote with husband Shelton.

Eric Church won two awards, including Album of the Year, and was tied with Aldean, Little Big Town and Florida Georgia Line in overall win total.

Church, this year's top nominee, also won Vocal Event of the Year for his collaboration with Aldean and Luke Bryan on "The Only Way I Know" and performed "Like Jesus Does" with only an acoustic guitar and a backup singer.

Little Big Town had wins for Vocal Group and Video of the Year. Florida Georgia Line won for New Artist and New Vocal Duo or Group of the Year. Husband and wife Shawna and Keifer Thompson continued their ascendance as Thompson Square won its second straight Vocal Duo of the Year award.

The highlight of the evening was Garth Brooks and George Strait performing together, paying tribute to the late Dick Clark, the executive producer of the show since 1979.

Brooks appeared on stage in flannel shirt and black cowboy hat with a Fu Manchu to perform his hit "The Dance" before Strait joined him for "The Cowboy Rides Away."

John Mayer joined Brad Paisley for a guitar summit on "Beat This Summer" and Taylor Swift and Keith Urban joined Tim McGraw on stage for "Highway Don't Care," which Urban finished off with a scorching guitar solo.

Stevie Wonder made his first appearance on a country music awards show, joining Hunter Hayes for a performance by two guys started out as teen prodigies. Hayes kicked off their set with his song "I Want Crazy," then was joined by Wonder for his hit "Sir Duke."
