BRYAN BREAK-ING OUT!

Jimi Hendrix Debuts at #2, While Imagine Dragons, Florida Georgia Line Zoom Into Top 10
Luke Bryan has no reason to beware the ides of March. The Capitol Nashville country star notches his first-ever #1 album with Spring Break…Here to Party, a compilation of his last two digital albums with several new tracks. The release, under label boss Mike Dungan, sells a total of 150k.

Legacy’s Jimi Hendrix album, People, Hell & Angels, a collection of previously unreleased recordings made shortly before his death in 1970, shows some surprising strength with a #2 debut, and almost 71k in sales.

Last week’s chart-topper, Atlantic’s Bruno Mars album, Unorthodox Jukebox, dips to #3, going over the million mark in total sales. Glassnote’s Mumford & Sons (#4, approaching 2.1m) and Def Jam/IDJ’s Rihanna (#5) round out the leaders.

Thanks in part to $7.99 iTunes sales, KidinaKorner/ Interscope’s Imagine Dragons (#15-6, +9%) and Big Machine/Republic’s Florida Georgia Line (#18-7, +20%), are both up, while Macklemore & Ryan Lewis (#8), Capitol’s Now 45 (#9) and Dualtone’s The Lumineers (#10) complete the Top 10.

New Top 50 entries include 429’s Boz Scaggs (#19), Walt Disney’s Shake It Up 3 soundtrack (#25), Warner Bros. Nashville’s Ashley Monroe (#42) and Columbia’s Trent Reznor project, How to Destroy Angels (#43).

Republic’s Of Monsters and Men (#23), Chop Shop/Atlantic’s Twilight Saga Breaking Dawn Part 2 soundtrack (#32), Capitol Nashville’s Luke Bryan Tailgates & Tanlines (#37), XO/Republic’s The Weeknd (#38), Capitol Nashville’s Eric Church (#44), New Elektra’s Ed Sheeran (#46), Atlantic’s Bruno Mars Doo-Wops & Hooligans (#47), Capitol’s Now 44 (#49) and Grand Hustle/Atlantic’s T.I. (#50) all re-enter the chart.

ATO’s surging Alabama Shakes (#25-17, +13%) and Verve’s Andrea Bocelli (#21-12, +10%) are the week’s other top double-digit gainers.

Look for ISO/Columbia’s David Bowie and Island’s Bon Jovi to be this week’s top new releases, along with RCA’s Sound City—Real to Reel soundtrack, Interscope’s Mindless Behavior and Bushbranch/Surfdog’s Eric Clapton. And then on March 19, it’s time for RCA’s Justin Timberlake
