Independent label Neon Gold has inked a global distribution deal with Virgin Music Group. The partnership kicks off with the signing of Phantogram.
Celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, Neon Gold has launched the careers of Charli XCX, Tove Lo, Passion Pit, MARINA and Christine and The Queens. Neon Gold releases have combined for 10m+ units and 15b+ streams.
The multiyear deal follows Neon Gold’s success with U.K. breakout Good Neighbours, whose runaway debut single, "Home,” was released in January in partnership with Avenue A/Some Action Records in the U.K. and now enjoys global support from Capitol and Polydor. Neon Gold also released Mt. Joy's "Highway Queen," currently #3 on AAA radio.
Phantogram joins longtime Neon Gold artists The Knocks and Juliana Madrid on the indie's roster, with additional signings to be announced.
"We’re thrilled to embark on the next chapter of Neon Gold with Virgin Music Group,” said Derek Davies (pictured), founder of Neon Gold. “The partnership allows us to maintain our independent spirit and artist-centric ethos while benefiting from the scale, global infrastructure and team of VMG.”
“Derek and Sarah [Kesselman, GM of Neon Gold] know how to nurture talent by building an ecosystem of familial support around their every signing and advocating for artistry in the industry, creating a natural blend of commerce and culture,” said Jacqueline Saturn, VMG president of North America and EVP of global artist relations. “We're thrilled to partner with them on this next phase of Neon Gold.”
