Sony Music Publishing Nashville is celebrating a double victory, being named Publisher of the Year at both the BMI & ASCAP Country Awards.
This year marks the first time SMP Nashville has held the Publisher of the Year at ASCAP and BMI simultaneously since 2012. Pubco topper Rusty Gaston accepted the BMI award virtually, which can be seen below.
“One week after our ASCAP Publisher of the Year win, I’m thrilled to announce that today Sony Music Publishing Nashville has been awarded Publisher of the Year at BMI’s Country Music Awards for the first time since 2017. Our songwriters had an incredible showing with a total of 22 top-performing songs, including “One Beer,” “Lovin’ on You,” “I Called Mama,” and “Beer Can’t Fix,” said Gaston in an internal message.
“Congratulations to our songwriters – it is an honor and a privilege to be your champions. Thank you for allowing us to support your songs as they continue to shape the future of country music. I also want to express my appreciation to Mike O’Neill, Clay Bradley and the entire BMI team for honoring us and recognizing our songwriters.”
