The Colorado-raised, Berklee-educated songwriter furnished material for Alicia Keys, Charlie XCX and Sam Hunt before embarking on a solo career that’s equal parts Carole King, Mary Chapin Carpenter and Faith Hill. “The Stranger,” meanwhile, establishes an important new voice that’s invested in our deeper humanity.
