A HOLIDAY STORY THAT
CHEERED US UP
12/23/19

Allie McRea of Philadelphia was visiting her veteran dad in the hospital, where he’s spent most of the year, and posted a video of them singing Thomas Rhett’s “Up” together. Allie’s dad said singing the song helped him feel better. Rhett responded to the video, and then a real holiday miracle came Allie’s way, as Big Machine’s Scott and Sandi Borchetta—who learned she was studying Music Therapy at Temple University—surprised her with $10k for her music studies. The gift came from the Music Has Value Fund, reserved for “organizations which support those who make music, aspire to make music, and access & appreciate music. Music Has Value aims to enrich lives both young and old, and a portion of the dollars pledged will support music therapy programs for seniors and those battling Alzheimer’s.”

Here's the Borchettas' note to Allie:

Allie,

We were so inspired by the video of you and your father singing together. Music truly has the ability to heal and your video is proof. We created the Music Has Value Fund to honor people like you and we are proudly donating $10,000 to your Music Therapy studies at Temple University. We are praying for your father’s health and we thank him for his service in the United States Army.

Happy Holidays,

Scott and Sandi Borchetta
