Multiple media sources are now reporting that Nashville's Webster PR is closing due to sexual abuse allegations leveled at founder/chief Kirt Webster.
Although Webster has disputed the allegations, he is believed to be shuttering the business. "As of November 1, 2017, Webster PR is no longer in business," read a post that is said to have appeared briefly on the company's website, though that notice is now gone and the site appears as usual. Music Row reported that it had received this updated notice:
Earlier today, it was mistakenly posted on the Webster Public Relations’ website that the firm has been closed. This was stated incorrectly. Webster Public Relations will continue operating – but under the name Westby Public Relations – while Kirt Webster takes some time away from the business to focus on combating the egregious and untrue allegations made against him. The company’s work on behalf of its clients will continue under the leadership of Jeremy Westby, Kirt’s longstanding colleague.
The publicity company is a division of Webster & Associates, which has reportedly been operating in Music City since 2002; its clients have included Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers, Kid Rock and Hank Williams, Jr.
Stories about the the claims against Webster have appeared online via The Tennessean, Music Row and the New York Post's Page Six and local TV outlet WSMV.
This is a developing story.
