Nashville’s Ryman Hospitality unveiled details about its New York City venue last week as the country music venue explores an expansion into cities across the country.
Set to open in April, the Opry City Stage, which will set up in Times Square, is a four-story venue that will feature a mainstage on a two-floor bar and restaurant space, plus a top-floor songwriters venue created in association with the Bluebird Cafe. Retail space will occupy the ground floor, and live and archived Opry performances will play throughout the venue.
Unlike other Times Square performances spaces, the goal of Opry City Stage is to attract visitors to Nashville.
“We believe that once our Opry City Stage guests get a taste for all the Grand Ole Opry and Nashville have to offer, they are going to want to visit Music City and experience it for themselves,” Ryman CEO Colin Reed said in a press release.
Ryman is exploring opening more Opry City Stages in cities such as Las Vegas, San Francisco and Orlando, Fla. The Times Square venue is a joint venture between Ryman Hospitality and New York-based SPK Hospitality Group. The relationship with the Bluebird Cafe extends beyond the Times Square property to include future venues, touring products, sponsorships and e-commerce opportunities.
