TALKIN' MUSIC: AMA CONFERENCE ROLLS OUT SCHEDULE
8/22/16

The Americana Music Association has announced the full slate of panels and workshops—50 in all—for this year’s AMA Festival & Conference, set for 9/20-25 at the Sheraton Downtown Nashville Hotel.

Among the renowned artists who will share their experiences during the confab are Bob Weir, Dwight Yoakam, Jody Stephens, Wanda Jackson, Del McCoury, Joe Henry, Billy Bragg, Margo Price, John Paul White and Lori McKenna.

T Bone Burnett will give the keynote address.

Here are a few of the anticipated highlights of the Conference:

Weir will present his solo album Blue Mountain with the playback and acoustic performance of select songs featuring producer Josh Kaufman, and he’ll sit down with Buddy Miller for a Q&A.

Yoakam will submit to what’s billed as an “intimate interview,” during which he’ll highlight songs from his new album Swimmin’ Pools, Movie Stars…, which features bluegrass reinterpretations of his songs.

The universally beloved Stephens will be the centerpiece of Ardent Studios’ 50 Year Anniversary celebration.

Price will be featured in “Songs We Love: Americana Edition,” moderated by NPR Music’s Ann Powers

WXPN’s Bruce Warren and KCSN’s Sky Daniels will explore the topic “Crossing the Bridge from Americana to AAA Radio.”

Conference registrations are currently $325 for members and $425 for non-members. Visit www.americanamusic.org for info and updates.
