Joey & Rory only charted two singles – and 2008’s “Cheater, Cheater” was the highest at #31. But the husband and wife duo, known for their down-home, bluegrass-tinged country style, has created an everlasting mark on the Internet as Joey Feek, 40, bravely faces the final stages of cancer, documented by her husband, Rory.

Writing on his THISLIFEILIVE blog, Rory gave a face, dignity, pain and above all love to the unthinkable loss of his wife, partner and the mother of Indiana, their 20-month old Downs Syndrome daughter. Having posted 11/9 under “An Answer To Prayer,” he wrote"At 4 a.m. on Friday morning we rushed Joey to the hospital in Muncie. Her pain had become too much to bear. A few hours later the doctors told us that the pain was from the cancer tumors continuing to grow and become inflamed and we need to concentrate now on helping her be comfortable.

"Not the answer we hoped for ... but the answer He has given us."

Rory Feek went home to their farm outside Columbia, Tennessee. Her family is surrounding her. When she is strong enough, Joey records stories for her daughter to have after she’s gone – and plays with her as much as possible.

More than the CMT “Can You Duet” exposure, the three albums for Sugar Hill/Vanguard (including 2008’s Top 10 The Life of a Song and 2010’s #9 debut Album Number Two), two inspirational projects for the Gaither Music Group, Made To Last for their own Farmhouse Records or The Academy of Country Music Best New Duo of 2010, the humanity and grace of this painful transition has caught the attention of “Entertainment Tonight,” PEOPLE, Huffington Post’s Parenting section, ABC News, E! Canada, Australian Women’s Weekly, PerezHilton.com and various country blogs and fanzines.

And today, Rory, who’s written hits for Blake Shelton, Clay Walker and Jimmy Wayne, returned to his blog again. Having lost his dear friend and original co-writing buddy Tim Wilson to cancer, a man who kept writing songs until the end, Rory considered what was happening in his own life, offering this reflection, “And someday when your moment comes with someone you love… maybe, just maybe, you will remember Joey and her words and voice and life will comfort you… and her song will live on.”
