THE BALL STREET JOURNAL

This is the first column of the new year! I sincerely hope everyone is safe and the political drama is behind them. This column is going to be short and sweet with records jumping around.

Republic’s Davey Dee and Garrett Ream take Pop Smoke’s “What You Know Bout Love” to #1. It was a 10-week journey and was up about 800 spins. They also welcome Ariana Grande’s “positions” inside the Top 10. The Weeknd’s “Save Your Tears” has a breakout week, gaining 400 spins and entering the Top 15. Grande also dropped a remix for “34+35” and it explodes to the tune of an 800-spin increase, moving #40-27. NAV’s “Young Wheezy” f/Gunna just misses a debut, landing at #41 and up over 200 spins. Look for this to have a high debut this coming week.

Warner’s B Dot Scales has his hands full as CJ’s “Whoopty” rockets #12-8, tacking on an additional 535 spins. This one has been a big record since the jump and Top 5 looks to be a week or two away! Saweetie’s “Best Friend” f/Doja Cat is on fire as well. She’s up over 1,000 spins and shows no signs of slowing down, climbing #31-18. Yung Bleu’s “You’re Mines Still” f/Drake enters the Top 25 thanks to an increase of 325 spins. They also debut Erica Banks’ “Buss It” at #36. She’s up 620 spins and the buzz is huge!

Def Jam’s Noah Sheer has Big Sean’s “Body Language” at #19, up 110 spins. Justin Bieber’s “Anyone” continues to develop and is up 115 spins, landing at #34 this week. And after her first #1 earlier this month, Jhene Aiko comes back with “Born Tired,” which will impact this week.

RCA’s Lori G and Inca see H.E.R.’s “Damage” gaining 365 spins and climbing from #16-12. Maluma X TheWeeknd’s “Hawái” enters the Top 20 thanks to an increase of 230 spins. Bryson Tiller’s “Outta Time” f/Drake moves to #26, while SZA’s “Good Days” is officially impacting this week. It is already at #43 and is sure to debut this coming week.

Geffen’s Lee L’Heureux debuts Lil Durk’s “Stay Down” at #40. It gains 270 spins and the buzz is growing. He also has Olivia Rodrigo’s “drivers license” at #48. It is a runaway smash at Top 40 and continues to cross over. It was up 260 spins and the pop leaners are leading the way.

Over at Capitol, Dixie Tipton has Iann Dior’s “Holding On” at #28, up 35 spins. She’s also officially impacting Lil Baby’s “On Me” this week. It’s already Top 30 on the Urban chart and comes in at #45 here at Rhythm. Up 225 spins, it looks to debut this coming week.
