CROSSOVER
THE BALL STREET JOURNAL

And it’s 2024! I hope everyone had a fantastic break and enjoyed the holiday season. I did a little traveling and rested up. Once again, we came back to a chart that was upside down because of holiday programming and year end count downs.

As it begins to come back into focus, the big records have returned to positive territory. The chart is still a week away from seeing who will take the next step and get the next rotation category. We also need to take into consideration that there will likely be a record or two that ends up researching and can come back to life. So, with that being said, let’s dive in!

RCA’s Lori G and Inca reached #1 with Doja Cat’s “Agora Hills” (Kemosabe) over the break. The single has also entered the Top 10 at Pop radio and jumped up on Spotify’s U.S. chart to #8 this week. Now, the RCA promo pair are focused on taking Victoria Monét’s “On My Mama” (Lovett Music) to the top of the chart. The track—which is Top 20 on Shazam U.S.—comes in at #4 this week, and it’s debuting at Top 40. They also have Chris Brown’s “Sensational” f/Davido & Lojay, which has amassed 33m+ video views in the last two months, gaining 110 spins and perched in the Top 20 at #19. They will be impacting a new Sleepy Hallow track in the next few weeks entitled “Anxiety.”

Dixie and Capitol have returned from the holidays with Offset’s “Worth It” f/Don Toliver in the Top 10. The track was up 85 spins, but I expect that to be bigger this coming week as it gets some more rotation increases.

Over at Def Jam, Noah Sheer has 2 Chainz & Lil Wayne’s “Transparency” f/Usher holding at #16. The immediate goal on this is to hit the Top 15. Noah is also beginning to target specific stations with Fridayy’s “When It Comes to You,” which is already moving at Urban and currently boasts 21m+ video views as well as 13m+ Spotify streams.

Nino and Interscope didn’t slow down over the holidays as JID’s “Surround Sound” f/21 Savage & Baby Tate (DVille) begins the year at #17, up nearly 200 spins. The track is Top 10 on Shazam Global and has accumulated 340m+ streams on Spotify alone. Look for this one to quickly make its way inside the Top 15.

At Epic, Sack and Dontay continue to keep Tyla’s “Water” (FAX) in power rotation for most stations. The track—which is Top 3 on Shazam U.S., Top 10 Global and Top 15 on Spotify’s Global chart—already hit #1, but the goal is to keep it inside the Top 5 as they drive it at Top 40.

Davey and Republic have Drake’s “First Person Shooter” f/J. Cole (OVO) at #5. The track enjoyed a 90-spin increase and is still two or three weeks away from reaching the top spot. Drake’s other single, “You Broke My Heart,” is sitting at #12 and picked up 10 additional spins this week. Meanwhile, Nicki Minaj’s “Everybody” f/Lil Uzi Vert was one of the biggest records over the break and it’s currently up 360 spins as it moves #23-18. Her other track, “FUTC,” which is #8 on Spotify’s U.S. chart, is also on fire and will be the next single. The Weeknd’s “One of the Girls” w/JENNIE & Lily Rose Depp is still getting started as it picks up 50 spins and enters the Top 25 this week. The track is now climbing the Spotify Global chart and comes in at #5 this week.
