CROSSOVER
THE BALLSTREET JOURNAL

I hope everyone had a safe and relaxing Fourth of July holiday! Having it in the middle of the week was strange, and it was like crickets chirping on Friday. And the mix show didn’t really seem to play a significant roll on the chart, as the big records got bigger and the developing ones continued to build… Right now, on the Rhythm chart, it’s just a battle to see who can maintain momentum and get to #1 next.

RCA’s Inca and Lori G have Khalid X Normani’s “Love Lies” at #4, up 190 spins. It’s about 600 spins away from the top. RCA also has Miguel f/J. Cole & Salaam Remi’s “Come Through and Chill” at #16 and G-Eazy f/Yo Gotti & YBN Nahmir’s “1942” sliding up to #31, gaining 220 spins. Khalid f/6LACK & Ty Dolla $ign’s “OTW” is just getting started and will continue to grow. They’re impacting GoldLink f/Miguel’s “Got Friends” this week.

Gary Spangler and Davey Dee at Republic have Post Malone’s “Better Now” coming like a freight train. At #8 this week, up 725 spins, it’s still a few weeks away from the top, but it’s showing all the signs of getting there. Ariana Grande’s “No Tears Left to Cry” moves up to #11, while Belly f/The Weeknd’s “What You Want” (XO/Roc Nation) rises to #22, gaining 100 spins. Nicki Minaj f/Ariana Grande’s “Bed” is now at #23, thanks to a healthy 400x increase. They’re doing a double impact this week with Drake, as “Don’t Matter to Me” debuts at #39, up 360 spins, and “In My Feelings,” which is up 440 spins and already on the building chart, both look to be the clear favorites. Jessie Reyez’s “Body Count” (Island) and NAV f/Travis Scott’s “Champion” (XO) both continue to develop.

Columbia’s Ayelet Schiffman and James White continue to build Diplo, French Montana & Lil Pump f/Zhavia’s “Welcome to the Party,” which was up 145 spins and comes in at #25. Russ’ “Back to Life” (Russ My Way) moves up to #33, gaining 95 spins. His fanbase continues to grow; he’s doing sold-out shows for audiences of five to six thousand now. Dej Loaf & Leon Bridges’ “Liberated” continues to build each week.

Epic’s Rick Sackheim and Dontay Thompson see A.Chal f/2 Chainz & Nicky Jam’s “Love N Hennessy” remix come in at #21. That one’s up 60 spins. Travis Scott f/Kanye’s “Watch” is up 145 spins—good enough for #30 this week. They’re impacting Nick Grant f/Yo Gotti’s “The Switch Up” this week.

Def Jam’s Noah Sheer has YG f/2 Chainz & Big Sean’s “Big Bank” shooting up to #27 this week, thanks to a 375-spin increase. Kanye West’s “Yikes” (G.O.O.D.) is up 120 spins and is now #29. Jeremih & Ty Dolla $ign’s “The Light” just misses debuting at #42. It was up 65 spins. Alessia Cara’s “Growing Pains” is starting to raise its hand, thanks to big numbers from Top 40. It’s up 80 spins, coming in at #57.

Capitol’s Greg Marella and Dixie Tipton see Lil Baby f/Drake’s “Yes Indeed” (QC/Motown) gain 195 spins at #19. Queen Naija’s “Medicine,” which is just getting started, is at #64 this week.
