CROSSOVER
THE BALLSTREET JOURNAL

After Chance the Rapper, Beyonce and Drake walked away from the Grammys with multiple awards, Epic/We The Best’s DJ Khaled dropped a track featuring Beyonce and Jay Z titled “Shining.” How long has it been since the superstar married couple has graced us with their combined presence? Jay’s verse is vintage Hov, and Beyonce is her typical, unmistakable self. Epic’s Sujit Kundu should have a good time working this one. They are going simultaneously with Urban and Top 40.

Sujit also has Travis Scott “Goosebumps” (Grand Hustle) rocketing #18-12 this week, gaining more than 450 spins. With a number of records ahead of it on the decline, this could be a Top 5 record in a few short weeks. Future’s “Used to This” moves to #26, and Rick Ross f/Ty Dolla $ign’s “I Think She Likes Me” (MMG) sees a triple digit gain; it’s in striking distance to the chart. Mariah Carey f/YG’s “I Don’t” continues to develop, and they are impacting Hardwell f/Jay Sean’s “Thinking About You” this week.

And how about a round of applause for Def Jam’s Rick Sackheim and Noah Sheer? They pulled off an amazing feat in taking Big Sean’s “Bounce Back” (G.O.O.D.) from #4 all the way to #1! It was up 515 spins. His other track, “Moves,” slides up to #27, up triple digits. Bibi Bourelly’s “Ballin’” comes in at #54, up 85 spins, and Jeremih f/Chris Brown’s “I Think of You” is up 125 spins, and gaining momentum. Make sure you are up on this track.

Republic’s Gary Spangler and Davey Dee are dominating chart share, thanks to artists such as Drake, Ariana and The Weeknd. “Party Monster” is still growing, as it moves up to #9 this week. Grande f/Future’s “Everyday” lands at #16, and ZAYN/Taylor Swift “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever” (UStudios) moves two spots to #22, gaining 115 spins. Marian Hill’s “Down” (Photo Finish) continues to grow, as they see an increase of 260 spins, vaulting to #33. Post Malone’s “Congratulations” is looking to be the hit that the label thought it would be. It debuts at #35, up 365 spins. Sean Paul’s “No Lie” (Island) comes in at #42 this week. Julia Michaels’ “Issues” is starting to gain traction as well. It is off to a tremendous start at Top 40.

Columbia’s Ayelet Schiffman and James White welcome The Chainsmokers’ “Paris” (Disruptor) into the Top 25 this week. It was up another 170 spins. They also won a Grammy for Best Dance Recording for “Don’t Let Me Down.” Russ’ “Losin’ Control” shoots #37-31, gaining 280 spins. Be on the lookout for Lecrae’s “Blessings,” which they are impacting 3/6. KMEL, KHHM and KPWR are on board early.

Glassnote’s Childish Gambino “Redbone” continues to grow, and get new believers on board. It moves to #46, up 60 spins. They are impacting Urban as we speak, which will most definitely boost his profile.

RCA’s Inca and Lori G have Chris Brown f/Usher & Gucci Mane’s “Party” headed into the top 10. He was up 170 spins and at #11. Khalid’s “Location” slides up to #21. This is a record that just continues to get new stations and increases each week. It was up 225 spins this week. G-Eazy’s “Some Kind Of Drug” moves into the top 25, gaining an additional 190 spins. Luke Christopher’s “Lot to Learn” is just getting started.
