Middle America spoke. The “Deplorables” weighed in. It was surreal to watch it all unfold, and watch the Clinton pundits, news anchors, and so called “experts” squirm, stutter and back track. I am not pro Trump, but this was real history in the making. Good or bad...Let’s see what the next 4 years have in store for us (unless he gets impeached before that!).
The Top 5 of the chart remained pretty unchanged this week. Republic’s The Weeknd f/Daft Punk’s “Starboy” (XO) held the top spot for the fourth week. Gary Spangler, Davey Dee and Stef Cole also bring Ariana Grande f/Nicki Minaj’s “Side To Side” inside the Top 10. It was up 370 spins, and is showing no signs of slowing down. Amine’s “Caroline” climbs 16-13, posting a 360spin jump. This one has been a steady builder, and there looks to be no ceiling on its success. Drake’s “Fake Love” (YMCMB) is already inside the Top 25 after just 2 weeks. It was up another 650 spins> Look for this one to rocket up the chart. Post Malone f/Justin Bieber’s “Déjà vu” is at #28, and it is starting to show growth in sales and streaming. Hailee Steinfeld & Grey f/Zedd’s “Starving” climbs to #43, and Belly’s “Ballerina” comes in at #51.
Epic and Sujit Kundu are coming strong for #1 with DJ Khaled f/Nicki and Chris Brown’s “Do You Mind” (We The Best). It moves up to #2, tacking on 800 spins. It is closing the gap, and could be #1 by midweek. Young Thug & Travis $cott’s “Pick Up The Phone” holds at #15, but sees an increase of 245 spins. They have their sights set on a top 10 record. Future f/Drake’s “Used To” (Freebandz/A-1) had an impressive week, gaining 135 spins. It is at #59 this week. They are impacting Nick Grant f/Watch The Duck’s “Get Up” this week. They are impacting 21 Savage & Metro Boomin’s “X’ next week.
Columbia’s Ayelet Schiffman and James White continue to develop the Russ’ “What They Want”: At #12 after gaining another 200 spins, it is Top 10 on the building chart. John Legend’s “Love Me Now” leaps #30-26, with his sights set on Top 25. Sales are still solid, and he has a number of upcoming television appearances. This is right in line with his past tracks, which were steady growers and builders.
Def Jam’s Rick Sackheim and Noah Sheer take Kanye West’s “Fade” (G.O.O.D.) to #11. It was up 250 spins. Rihanna’s “Love On The Brain” (Westbury Road/Roc Nation) climbs two spots to #17. It sees an additional 300 spins added to the total. Big Sean’s “Bounce Back” just misses charting, coming in at #44. It saw a 315 spin increase, and will most definitely debut this coming week. 2 Chainz f/Drake’s “Big Amount” moves to #47, while Alessia Cara’s “Scars To Your Beautiful” is now at #53, grabbing an additional 90 spins. Jeremih’s “London” continues to develop, landing at #66 this week, up 70 spins.
Over at RCA, Inca and Lori G see another 150 spin increase on Rob $tone’s “Chill Bill.” It holds at #18. Afrojack f/Ty Dolla $ign’s “Gone” (Latium) climbs 34-31 this week. this was up 70 spins, and continues to bring on new believers each week. They debut Sia f/Kendrick Lamar’s “The Greatest” (Monkey Puzzle) this week at #38, as well as Usher f/Future’s “Rivals” at #39. Martin Garrix & BeBe Rexha’s “In The Name Of Love” is just getting started, and is it at #69. Make sure you check out Khalid’s “Location.” It really shows instant reaction where it is played.
Dixie Tipton and Capitol are impacting Trey Songz’s “Push It On Me” this week. it is already at #64 this week.
