THE BALLSTREET JOURNAL

Does anyone else’s March Madness bracket look like Swiss cheese? I had West Virginia, Michigan State and Xavier all going much further. It was a crazy opening week for the tournament. The Northern Iowa vs. Texas A&M game was the craziest game I’ve seen in years. Win the game after being down by 12 with less than a minute and 10 seconds left?! Insane! I have 12 of the remaining Sweet 16 teams, and still have Kansas winning it all. They’re about to go up against a tough Maryland squad, though, so my loyalty is with the home team Terps. This, for me, is the best two weeks in sports of the entire year.

Speaking of winning, Def Jam’s Rick Sackheim, Noah Sheer and Scott Maness hold the top spot with Rihanna f/Drake’s “Work” (Westbury Road/Roc Nation). This is the third week at #1, and its momentum should hold it there for a few more. Jeremih’s “Oui” climbs to #7 this week, increasing 230 spins. Justin Bieber’s “Company” (RBMG) jumps ten spots to #29, grabbing 345 new spins. Right behind is DJ Mustard f/Travi$ Scott’s “Whole Lotta Lovin’” (Roc Nation), which continues to build, with an increase of 50 spins. Desiigner’s “Panda” (G.O.O.D. Music) is a huge buzz record. It was up 150 spins and, at #41, it just missed charting at, but it’s sure to make a big splash next week. They impact Iggy Azalea’s new single, “Team,” this week. Top 40 is really leading the charge here, with Rhythm following suit.

Republic’s Gary Spangler, Davey Dee and Stef Cole continue to build Belly f/The Weeknd’s “Might Not” (CP/Roc Nation), taking it to #8 and up 195 spins. Zendaya f/Chris Brown’s “Something New” rises #14-12, gaining 235 spins, and The Weeknd’s “Acquainted” (XO) ascends to #18, seeing a bump of 285 spins. Mike Posner’s “I Took a Pill in Ibiza” (Island) enters the Top 15 this week, up 305 spins. This track is showing no signs of slowing down. Drake’s “Summer Sixteen” (YMCMB) is now Top 20, up 160 spins. Ariana Grande’s “Dangerous Woman” debuts at #37 thanks to a 345-spin jump. They’re impacting Keke Palmer f/Jeremih’s “Enemiez” this week. Team Republic has been setting this one up for a number of weeks and are expecting a solid showing.

Epic’s Sujit Kundu, the proud owner of the #1, #2, and #3 Most Increased records this week, is red-hot on spin hustle. Fifth Harmony f/Ty Dolla $ign’s “Work From Home” (SYCO) explodes to #24, gaining 530 spins. Future f/The Weeknd’s “Low Life” (A1/Freebandz) leaps to #26, tacking on an additional 375 spins. Meghan Trainor’s “NO” launched onto the chart and became this week’s biggest debut at #35, up 370 spins. They also debut Zara Larsson & MNEK’s “Never Forget You” at #40 this week and just miss the chart with Nelly’s “Die a Happy Man” at #42. They impact Yo Gotti’s “Law” this week, coming off the very successful “Down in the DM” (CMG), which was a Top 5 record.

Columbia’s Ayelet Schiffman and James White got The Internet’s “Girl” (Odd Future) moving up to #27 this week. This song’s been on the chart for seven weeks now and has been steadily moving upwards. J. Cole’s “Love Yourz” (Roc Nation) slides into the #32 position, up 65 spins. And next week, they impact The Chainsmokers f/Daya’s “Don’t Let Me Down” (Disruptor) which is already sitting at #65. This one’s showing signs of following the huge success of “Roses,” which ended up in the Top 5.

Inca and Lori G at RCA take Chris Brown’s “Back to Sleep” Top 5 this week on a 280+-spin gain. They also welcome Kid Ink’s “Promise” into the Top 10, up 115 spins. ZAYN’s “PILLOWTALK” is now officially Top 20, thanks in large part to a 270-spin increase, while Bryson Tiller’s “Exchange” was up 210 spins and moved into the Top 25. They’re impacting Ro James’ “Permission” this week after a successful run at Urban. BTW, congrats, Inca, on the birth of your new baby!

Dixie Tipton and Capitol debut Young Greatness’ “Moolah” (QC/Motown) at #39 this week with a triple-digit increase, as the buzz continues to spread. OG Maco & TWRK’s “Do What It Do” (QC/Motown) is at #53, up 30 spins.
