CROSSOVER
THE BALLSTREET JOURNAL

Males are dominating the chart right now, but three ladies are powering through to the Top 25: Selena Gomez, Rita Ora, and Alessia Cara.

Def Jam continues to demonstrate that they’re in for the long haul, as they focus on breaking Alessia Cara’s “Here,” which ascends to #19 this week, up 495 spins. Cara has been on the chart for seven weeks, and this is her best week yet. Def Jam’s Rick Sackhiem,Noah Sheer and Scott Maness are full steam ahead with Jeremih f/J. Cole’s “Planes,” which moves to #8 this week, along with Justin Bieber’s “What Do You Mean?,” which leapt #16-13, gaining 465 spins. With all this Bieber momentum, it’s nice to see radio rally around a superstar who’s on the road to a major comeback.YG’s “Twist My Fingaz” (CTE) was up triple-digits, climbing #24-22. Big Sean’s “Play No Games” (G.O.O.D.) is this week’s highest debuting record, at #30 and up 265 spins.

Republic’s Gary Spangler, Davey Dee and Stef Cole are making some boss moves, as they look to flip-flop #1s this coming week. The Weeknd‘s “The Hills” (XO) currently sits at #1, but Drake’s “Hotline Bling” (YMCMB) is exploding like a gasoline fire, igniting a spin gain of over 1200. It’s currently at #3 but, real talk, “Hotline Bling” should jump the #2 record by Tuesday and land in the #1 spot next week. Meanwhile, Republic’s buzzing Post Malone continues to build, gaining 255 spins this week with “White Iverson,” which moves inside the Top 20.Taylor Swift‘s “Wildest Dreams” (Big Machine) jumps #33-28, adding 170 spins, and Nick Jonas’ “Levels” (Safehouse/Island) slides to #33, up 170 spins.

Columbia’s
one-two punch of Ayelet Schiffman and James White got Dej Loaf f/Big Sean’s “Back Up” surging to #26, with an additional 130 spins. Right behind it is J Cole‘s “No Role Modelz” (Roc Nation), which moves #31-27 with an increase of 145 spins. Calvin Harris & Disciples’ “How Deep Is Your Love” takes a nice leap from #39-32, up 70 spins, while the Empire Cast f/Jussie Smollett & Pitbull’s “No Doubt About It” just misses debuting, coming in at #45 and gaining 210 spins.

Sujit Kundu
and Team Epic continue their success with Future f/Drake’s “Where Ya At” (A1/Freebandz), as the song moves #26-23 this week, with a 215-spin increase. They also debut Travi$ Scott’s “Antidote” (Grand Hustle) at #37 with a gain of 180 spins. Head’s up: they’re impacting Meghan Trainor f/John Legend’s “Like I’m Gonna Lose You” this week. The iTunes sales on this track are quite impressive, and it’s reacting everywhere it’s getting played.

The three-headed monster of
RCA is ushering in a fourth quarter with guns a-blazin’. John Strazza,Inca and Lori G have R. City f/Adam Levine’s “Locked Away” (Kemosabe) at #12, up 350 spins, and Chris Brown’s “Liquor” at #21, up 100 spins.
