Epic’s Sujit Kundu gets the top billing this week for his job on Jidenna’s “Classic Man” (Wondaland). It moves into the Top 5, up 520 spins. I personally wouldn’t have guessed that a record by a brand new artist with a slightly different sound would have the success it has. And it’s not over. Sujit just sent out a remix which features Kendrick Lamar. In addition, it debuts at Pop this week! Suj also has Fifth Harmony f/Kid Ink’s “Worth It” at #21, up triple-digits. Tink’s “Million” (Mosley) just misses the chart this week, and Janelle Monae & Jidenna’s “Yoga” (Wondaland) moves to #47. They’re impacting Carnage f/I Love Makonnen’s “I Like Tuh” this week.
The three-headed monster of promotion at Republic continues to do its thing. Gary Spangler, Davey Dee and Stef Cole have Taylor Swift f/Kendrick Lamar’s “Bad Blood” (Big Machine) moving #17-13, up 550 spins. It was #2 Most Increased behind labelmate The Weeknd and his “Can’t Feel My Face” (XO), which was up 1170 spins. Nicki Minaj’s “The Night Is Still Young” (YMCMB) is at #15, and Sage The Gemini f/Nick Jonas’ “Good Thing” sits at #20, gaining 140 spins. Natalie La Rose f/Fetty Wap’s “Around the World” debuts at #38 this week and adds 265 spins.
Rick Sackhiem, Noah Sheer and Scott Maness at Def Jam have Rihanna’s “BBHMM” (Roc Nation) at #6 again this week. They also debut Big Sean f/Kanye West & John Legend’s “One Man Can Change the World” (G.O.O.D.) at #35, making it the biggest debut this week. Make sure you check out the video. It looks like Jeremih f/J. Cole’s “Planes” is making a comeback of sorts. It was worked about four months ago, but, shortly after, the label put out “Tonight Belongs to U!” as well. Stations were split between the two songs, and because of that, neither track really gained the traction it deserved. This week, “Planes” moves #57-49 and gains 90 spins. It’s also having a successful run at Urban. They recently impacted Elijah Blake’s “I Just Wanna..,” which is just getting started.
Columbia’s Ayelet Schiffman and James White are running OMI’s “Cheerleader” (Ultra) up the chart at a blazing pace; the track moves #15-12 this week, up 370 spins. It continues to gather new rotation increases based on the amazing iTunes sales and Shazam numbers. J. Cole’s “Wet Dreamz” (Roc Nation) is at #16 this week, tacking on another 110 spins. And Samantha J f/Dej Loaf’s “League of My Own” moves into the Top 50 this week, adding an additional 60 spins.
RCA’s John Strazza, Inca and Lori G have Kid Ink f/Dej Loaf’s “Be Real” at #9 this week, with a plus 285 spin gain. And after 15 weeks on the chart, they take Tinashe’s “All Hands on Deck” Top 10; it was a labor of love, but the end result is always worth it. Pitbull f/Chris Brown “Fun” (Mr.305/Polo Grounds) is at #19, up 70 spins this week. Miguel f/Wale’s “Coffee” continues to develop, as it moves to #45 this week. Deorro X Chris Brown’s “Five More Hours” moves inside the Top 50 and gains an additional 40 spins. Chris Brown & Tyga f/ScHoolboy Q’s “B**ches & Marijuana” is starting to heat up; it climbs to #55, adding 50 spins this week. A$AP Rocky’s “Everyday” is bubbling under the chart as well and grabs new believers each week, as does Prince Royce f/Pitbull & Jennifer Lopez’s “Back It Up.”
After yet another Top 5 record, and 1m+ in iTunes sales, Warner Bros.’ Jason Derulo is back at it with “Cheyenne” (Beluga Heights). Lee L’Heureux is taking early adds, and it officially impacts next week.
And Janet Jackson is back with a brand new single, “No Sleeep.” It hearkens back to vintage Janet, with a smooth vibe and sultry lyrics. She already has a fall tour planned. Contact Paula Tuggey at [email protected]
