Team RCA Holds Down The #1 Spot (Again) With Motown and Republic Hot on Their Heels

In the “Department of Redundancy Department,” RCA has the #1 record in the country for another week. Mark Ronson f/Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk” holds off Ne-Yo’s charging “She Knows” (Motown) for his third week at the top. After the chart reconciled and stations were taken off and added, the margin closed considerably. The next question is, can Pitbull f/Ne-Yo’s “Time of Our Lives” (RCA) climb over “She Knows” this week and hold off Nicki Minaj f/Drake & Lil Wayne’s “Truffle Butter” (YMCMB/Republic)? Keep in mind that Nicki has a ton of momentum and has the Most Increased track this week.

But first, back to John Strazza, Inca and Lori G at RCA. They’ve controlled the #1 position for all but one week so far this year. If Pitbull does make it to #1, that would mean back-to-back to back #1’s for them; Pit was up 850 spins this week and moves to #3. Chris Brown & Tyga’s “Ayo” slides #9-6, up 780 spins, and Kid Ink f/Chris Brown’s “Hotel” climbs into the Top 20, gaining 250 spins.

But Gary Spangler and Davey Dee at Republic have plans to change the top of the chart. In addition to Nicki’s “Truffle Butter,” which was up an amazing 1175 spins, they also have Natalie La Rose f/Jeremih’s “Somebody,” which had an increase of 630 spins, and moves to #8. The Weeknd’s “Earned It” gains 310 spins and climbs to #16, and Kaylin & Myles’ “Trampoline” leaps into the Top 25, tacking on another 260 spins this week. Ariana Grande’s “One Last Time” is the highest debuting record this week at #31, and it gains 450 spins. They also debut Taylor Swift’s “Style” (Big Machine) at #40. Nick Jonas’ “Chains” (Island) is at #66 and they’re impacting next week.

Columbia’s Ayelet Schiffman and James White have Beyonce’s “7/11” at #7, increasing 300 spins this week. J. Cole’s “Apparently” holds at #12, but was up 335 spins. There are a pair of Calvin Harris tracks heating up, as “Open Wide” f/Big Sean vaults #32-26, up 190 spins, and “Outside,” which features Ellie Goulding, climbs to #44, tacking on another 210 spins. TK & Cash’s “Mind Right” is up another 70 spins and it’s looking like it’ll debut this coming week. They impact T.I. f/Chris Brown’s “Private Show” (Grand Hustle) this week, and it’s already at #52 on the chart. Be ready for the new track from Snoop Dogg, “Peaches and Cream,” which was produced by Pharrell; that will impact 3/10.

Rick Sackhiem, Noah Sheer and Scott Maness at Def Jam take trio Rihanna, Kanye West & Paul McCartney’s “FourFiveSeconds” to #13 and add more than 900 spins. Ludacris f/Miguel’s “Good Lovin” continues to climb each and every week; it’s now at #21, up 150 spins. Big Sean f/Drake & Kanye West’s “Blessings” (G.O.O.D.) shoots to #27, gaining 320 spins. Logic’s “Buried Alive” moves to #45, Jeremih f/J. Cole’s “Planes” continues to develop each week, and they impact Iggy Azalea f/Jennifer Hudson’s “Trouble” (Grand Hustle) this week.

Sujit Kundu and the Epic team debut Ciara’s “I Bet” this week at #39. Right behind is Casey Veggies f/YG & IAMSU’s “Backflip” at #41. It looks to debut this coming week. Fifth Harmony f/Kid Ink’s “Worth It” (SYCO) moves to #55, while Jidenna’s “Classic Man” climbs to #64, up 100 spins this week.

Over at Glassnote, Childish Gambino’s “Sober” moves to #29 this week, up another 80 spins… And RAL’s Bob Weil impacts Jordin Sparks f/2 Chainz’s “Double Tap” this coming week.
