Natalie La Rose and Dylan Sprague: "Somebody" up there likes them.
The iHeartMedia meetings were a huge success, with a number of surprises and special guests. Particularly unexpected and exciting: Mr. Kanye West gracing programmers and MDs with his presence. He spoke for about 45 minutes, performed a few songs and played the Rihanna track as well. And as you can see by the Mediabase numbers, everyone was enamored by the Rihanna, Kanye & Paul McCartney track, “FourFiveSeconds.” The record is absolutely exploding at Top 40 and Rhythm; it’s sure to be inside the Top 20 at Pop and Top 25 at Rhythm in less than a week!
Staying with Def Jam, they just released Jeremih f/J Cole’s new track, “Planes,” which impacts on 2/9. Rick Sackhiem, Noah Sheer and Scott Maness just put everyone on notice, as Kanye West f/Paul McCartney’s “Only One” blasts on the chart at #31–the biggest debut this week–with an increase of 310 spins, while Ludacris f/Miguel’s “Good Lovin” hits #32, up over 150 spins. Logic’s “Buried Alive” was up nearly 100 spins and continues to grab new believers each week…
Gary Spangler and Davey Dee at Republic have Nicki Minaj f/Drake, Lil Wayne, Chris Brown’s “Only” (YMCMB) at #7, increasing 370 spins, as well as Nick Jonas’ “Jealous” (Island) now at #8, up 415 spins. And although it’s not an “official” single, Nicki Minaj f/Drake & Lil Wayne’s “Truffle Butter” moves #24-19, gaining 525 spins. Natalie La Rose f/Jeremih’s “Somebody” climbs #27-24, with 466 added spins this week. Just under the chart, The Weeknd’s “Earned It” moves to #44, while Kalin & Myles’ “Trampoline” is up 215 spins, and looks to chart next week…
Over at Columbia, Ayelet Schiffman and James White have Beyoncé’s “7/11” at #9, gaining 250 spins. They also have J Cole’s “Apparently” at #17, up 150 spins. And they impact Calvin Harris f/Big Sean’s “Open Wide” this week. Hozier’s “Take Me to Church” sits just off the chart, and looks to debut this coming week. Be on the lookout for Snoop Dogg’s new track, “Peaches and Cream,” which was produced by Pharrell and has been very well received by those programmers who have heard it.
Strazza, Inca and Lori G at RCA are firing on all cylinders as they hold Usher f/Juicy J’s “I Don’t Mind” at #1 this week. They also have Mark Ronson f/Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk” at #5 with an increase (for a second week in a row) of over 950 spins; that’s a rare accomplishment for a record inside the Top 10. It’ll certainly be gunning for #1 this week. Pitbull f/Ne-Yo’s “Time of Our Lives” is at #10, up 260 spins. Chris Brown & Tyga’s “Ayo” jumps #23-18 this week, gaining another 535 spins. Not far behind is Prince Royce f/Snoop Dogg’s “Stuck on a Feeling,” sitting at #22 with an increase of 165 spins. And look for Kid Ink f/Chris Brown’s “Hotel” to debut this coming week; it’s at #46, up 160 spins…
Sujit Kundu and Epic impact Ciara’s “I Bet” this week. It’s poised to be in the Most Added column. He also has Meghan Trainor’s “Lips Are Movin” just outside the chart and ready to debut this coming week. Meanwhile, Casey Veggies f/YG & IAMSU’s “Backflip” is 160 spins this week. Speaking of Epic, here's the brand new one from Jodeci:
