CROSSOVER
SUMMIT GOT RHYTHM
iHeartMedia Summit, Football and, Oh Yeah, Records

Los Angeles has been buzzing this week, as iHeartMedia had their collection of semiannual radio meetings, The iHeartmedia Music Summit. Reps from most every label were in attendance to play Q1 priorities and new artists for a large number of iHeart programmers and music directors.

Each label is given a set amount of time with a captive audience to excite radio about upcoming and current projects. What a great way to get your music heard in such a dynamic and diverse venue…

As much as I hate to say it, congrats are in order to Todd Glassman and Lee L'Heureux. Their beloved New England Patriots made it to yet another Super Bowl. They won in a laugher this past weekend, and there are rumors that they deflated some of the footballs so they were easier to catch in the cold weather. It always seems like there’s some controversy surrounding that damn team, between the suspect calls and favoritism towards Tom Brady

And speaking of winning, RCA has another #1 record this week. Usher f/Juicy J’s "I Don't Mind" takes top honors, and looks to hold them for another week. Strazza, Inca, and Lori G also have Mark Ronson f/Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk” leaping #14-6, up an astounding 1100 spins! Pitbull f/Ne-Yo’s “Time of Our Lives” moves #17-12, up 540 spins, Prince Royce f/Snoop Dogg’s “Stuck on a Feeling” sits at #22, gaining 177 spins, and Chris Brown & Tyga’s “Ayo” climbs #37-23, up 670 spins. Kid Ink f/Chris Brown’s “Hotel” is a week or two from charting and up 250 spins. FYI, they’re impacting Luke Christopher’s “Ms. Holy Water” this week…

Gary Spangler and Davey Dee at Republic show no signs of slowing down, as they’ve got Nicki Minaj f/Drake, Lil Wayne & Chris Brown’s “Only” (YMCMB) at #7, up 330 spins, and Nick Jonas’ “Jealous” (Island) at #8, plus 440 spins. Nicki Minaj has “Truffle Butter” f/Drake & Lil Wayne, which vaults #36-24, up 621 spins. Natalie La Rose f/Jeremih’s “Somebody” is the biggest debuting record this week, coming in at #27, gaining 560 spins. Under the chart, they have James Newton Howard f/J Lawrence’s “The Hanging Tree” and The Weeknd’s “Earned It.” They’re impacting Kalin & Myles’ “Trampoline” this week, and it already has a big buzz…

Rick Sackhiem, Noah Sheer and Scott Maness at Def Jam see Ludacris f/Miguel’s “Good Lovin’” debut at #40 this week, and will surely see Kayne West f/Paul McCartney’s “Only One” debut, as it increases 240 spins this week. They’re impacting Logic’s “Buried Alive” this week…

Over at Columbia, Ayelet Schiffman and James White take Beyonce’s “7/11” inside the Top 10, landing it at #9. T.I.’s “About the Money” (Grand Hustle) moves to #10 and Dej Loaf’s “Try Me” climbs to #15, up 125 spins. J. Cole’s “Apparently” (Roc Nation) moves to #20, gaining 230 spins. Hozier’s “Take Me to Church,” which is a huge record at Pop, is at #47 this week. And next week, they’re impacting Calvin Harris f/Big Sean’s “Open Wide,” which a number of stations have expressed plenty of interest in…

Lee L’heureux and Warner Bros. are in the process of setting up their next few records, which include OB O’Brien f/Drake’s “Schemin’ Up” and the new track from I Love Makonnen, “I Don’t Sell Molly No More.” There’s also a big West Coast buzz on L.A. Leakers f/Kid Ink, Sage The Gemini & IAMSU’s “Pull Up.” Make sure to spend time with all three…

Epic’s Sujit Kundu has a few records bubbling just under the chart, including Meghan Trainor’s “Lips Are Movin,” TeeFlii’s “Change Your World” and Casey Veggies f/YG & IAMSU’s “Backflip.” He’s also impacting Ciara’s latest, “I Bet,” next week… Nick P and Glassnote are a week away from debuting with Childish Gambino’s “Sober”; it’s at #41 this week, up 120 spins.
