CROSSOVER
I was in Vegas this past weekend with WRCL/Flint PD Clay Church for a much-needed mini-vacation. Between drinking and gambling, we made time to check out Britney Spears’ show at Planet Hollywood. It was truly a top-notch production, and the crowd was obviously full of huge Britney fans, who sang and danced to every song. I highly recommend checking it out if you’re there. I also got to hang out with Republic artist SoMo and label rep Stef Cole. What started out as a tame night, well, what happens in Vegas... Some pretty big news, as Eminem and Rihanna announce they’re hitting the road together this August with The Monster Tour, a three-city set stopping in NYC, Detroit, and L.A. I’m sure tickets will be at a premium to see two of the hottest acts at our format… Let’s all give a warm welcome back to Sujit Kundo, who takes over as SVP of Crossover Promotion for Epic. His first order of business is with Kat Dahlia, who is sitting just outside the chart. You can reach him at [email protected]. Also, congrats to Bill Baker at WOCQ in Ocean City, MD, who takes over as PD. He grew up in the market and has some big plans for the station. He’s looking forward to working with the labels. He can be reached at [email protected]... Beyoncé once again holds on to the throne of #1 spot in the land. “Drunk in Love” featuring Jay Z is still gaining spins and keeping Katy Perry f/Juicy J’s “Dark Horse” from taking over. Ayelet Schiffman and James White at Columbia also have Pharrell Williams’ “Happy” at #7, which is again the #1 Most Increased record at the format. Not far behind, John Legend’s “All of Me” moves Top 15, up 368 spins, DJ Snake & Lil Jon’s “Turn Down for What” moves inside the Top 25, increasing 145 spins, and Calvin Harris f/Ayah Marar’s “Thinking about You” moves #28-26 this week. They’re impacting Beyoncé’s new track, “Partition,” this week, and it just so happens to debut at #39. Columbia sure has had a great start to their year… Gary Spangler and Davey Dee at Republic continue to bring Lorde’s “Team” home. It was up 320 spins this week, and moves to #9. They also have SoMo’s “Ride” at #12 and are looking to get it into the Top 10 this coming week… Sage The Gemini’s “Red Nose” builds more momentum, as it was up 260 spins, good enough for #13. Martin Garrix’s “Animals” was up triple digits in airplay, and moves to #32. Make sure to check out Young Money f/Drake’s “Trophies.” They’re impacting it on 3/4… The crew at IDJ are impacting Mariah Carey’s “You’re Mine (Eternal)” this week. There’s the original, as well as a remix with Trey Songz. It was among the Most Added last week and figures to be there again this week. They’re also running Jay Z f/Beyoncé’s “Part II (On the Run)” up the charts. It jumped #27-22, up 200 spins this week. Jhene Aiko’s “The Worst” continues to build each and every week. It moves #31-29, up over 150 spins. Ludacris f/Wiz Khalifa, Jeremih & Cashmere Cat’s “Party Girls” is just outside the chart, and YG f/Drake’s “Who Do You Love” is, as well… Strazz, Inca and Lori G at RCA take Chris Brown f/Lil Wayne’s “Loyal” into the Top 10 this week. It was up over 400 spins, and has only five stations that aren’t playing it… Shakira f/Rihanna’s “Can’t Remember to Forget You” is at #37 this week, and it’s also growing at Pop, as is Miley Cyrus’ “Adore You.” Kid Ink’s follow-up to his last smash will be “Main Chick,” f/Chris Brown. It’ll impact in the next few weeks. There’s also a new Justin Timberlake track, entitled “Not a Bad Thing.” This will look to start at Pop a few weeks before Rhythm… Congrats to Lee L’Heureux at Warner Bros. for taking Jason Derulo Top 5 this week. It’s a Most Increased record for the third straight week!
