CROSSOVER
It sure is great to have football back! Week one had a number of surprises (Sorry that the Patriots lost, Lee L’Heureux and Todd Glassman). San Fran looked good (Short-e is happy), Seattle looked amazing, and my beloved Ravens lost. I won’t even get into the Ray Rice situation. The Redskins were, well, the Redskins (sorry, Noah Sheer). I know it’s only week one, but there are a few teams that need a quick adjustment if they have any hopes of having a good season. At least here in Baltimore, we have post-season baseball. We’re 10 games up in our division and in the catbird seat. Winning sure is fun... Speaking of winning, Def Jam’s Jeremih is doing just that. “Don’t Tell ‘Em” f/YG is far and away the biggest record at Rhythm, and is even inside the Top 15 at Top 40 radio. Rick Sackhiem, Noah Sheer and Scott Maness also take Iggy Azalea f/Rita Ora’s “Black Widow” #9-8, up 466 spins. Jeezy’s “Seen It All” is at #46, and they have YG’s “Do It to Ya” just getting started. They’re impacting Alesso f/Tove Lo’s “Heroes” this week… Republic’s Gary Spangler and Davey Dee have Nicki Minaj’s “Anaconda” at #9, up 475 spins, as well as Drake’s “0-100” at #13, up over 600 spins! Ariana Grande f/Zedd’s “Break Free” is at #16, while Jessie J + Ariana Grande + Nicki Minaj’s “Bang Bang” moves #19-17. Rich Gang f/Young Thug & Rich Homie Quan’s “Lifestyle” moves inside the Top 25, gaining over 200 spins, and Kiesza’s “Hideaway” moves closer to the chart; it climbs to #43 this week. Just under the chart, they have Enrique Iglesias f/Descemer Bueno, Sean Paul & Gente De Zona’s “Bailando,” Kalin & Myles’ “Love Robbery” and DJ Khaled f/Chris Brown, August Alsina, Future & Jeremih’s “Hold You Down”… RCA continues to drive Chris Brown towards the top, and moves “New Flame” f/Usher & Rick Ross into the Top 10 this week. Usher f/Nicki Minaj’s “She Came to Give It to You” is at #24, up triple digits, and Pitbull f/John Ryan’s “Fireball” debuts at #38 this week. Sia’s “Chandelier,” Mr Probz’s “Waves” and G-Eazy are all just under the chart. They’re impacting Tinashe f/A$AP Rocky’s new track, “Pretend,” and it’ll have a great week… Ayelet Schiffman and James White have their plan to take T.I. f/Iggy Azalea’s “No Mediocre” to #1; it’s at #3 this week, gaining over 500 spins. They also have Beyoncé’s “Flawless” at #23, gaining over 200 spins. John Legend’s “You and I” sits at #39, and they impact Calvin Harris f/John Newman’s new single, “Blame,” this week. They also see ZHU’s “Faded” starting to create a buzz. By the way, be on the lookout for for T.I.’s latest, “About the Money,” which they’ll impact in the next two weeks… Lee L’Heureux and Warner Bros. debut Jason Derulo’s “Trumpets” at #36 this week. Sales on this single are quite impressive, as it hits 50k/week at iTunes. It continues to develop big at Top 40 as well. He also has PartyNextDoor f/Drake’s “Recognize” and I Love Makonnen’s “Tuesday,” which has an incredible buzz factor. And they just blasted out the latest track from Nico & Vinz, “In Your Arms,” which should impact in the next few weeks… Sujit Kundu and the Epic squad inch ever closer to the Top 10 with TeeFlii’s “24 Hours.” It climbs to #11, up triple-digits this week. They also have Lil Jon’s “Bend Ova” rising to #15, up 475 spins. Make sure you check out the video. Also, Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass” ascends to #21, up 360 spins. It has its sights set on #1 at Top 40 in the next three weeks… Meanwhile, Nick P and Glassnote continue to build Childish Gambino’s “Telegraph Ave,” which is at #60 this week.
