CROSSOVER
After just one week at #1, "No Mediocre," by Grand Hustle/Columbia's T.I. f/Iggy Azalea, slides down, allowing Grand Hustle/Def Jam’s Iggy Azalea to take over the slot with “Black Widow” f/Rita Ora, which also happened to go #1 at Top 40 this week! Congrats to Rick Sackhiem, Noah Sheer and Scott Maness for a job well done, their patience and their plan to hold radio for the extra week it took. Sticking with Def Jam, they’ve taken Big Sean’s “IDFWU” #27-21 with a 344-spin increase this week. They also have August Alsina f/Nicki Minaj’s “No Love” at #46, looking to chart in the next week. I’ve heard they’re dropping a new track from Iggy Azalea later in the week as well. And you know the follow-up to Jeremih f/YG’s “Don’t Tell ‘Em” will be another heater… The reign for Iggy may only last a week, however, as RCA's Chris Brown is already at #2 and gaining ground each day with "New Flame" f/Usher & Rick Ross. That would mark the third #1 in three weeks since Jeremih held that spot for eight consecutive weeks. John Strazza, Inca and Lori G also have Kid Ink f/Usher & Tinashe’s “Body Language” vaulting #24-17, up 365 spins, Tinashe f/A$AP Rocky’s “Pretend” at #34, up triple digits, and Mr. Probz’s “Waves” debuting at #36. Jamie Foxx f/2 Chainz’s “Party Ain’t a Party” and Usher f/Juicy J’s “I Don’t Mind” are both a few weeks away from charting but are starting to buzz… Lee L’Heureux and Warner Bros. are banging away with Jason Derulo’s “Trumpets,” which moves #17-14 and increases 250 spins this week. Fun fact: This is the fifth single on Derulo’s current LP to go platinum in the U.S. To give you an idea of how impressive that is, the other artists to accomplish such a feat are Drake in 2011, Katy Perry and Bruno Mars in 2010, Black Eyed Peas in 2009, Beyoncé and P!nk in 2008 and Rihanna and Taylor Swift in 2007. That's some pretty heavy company. Lee also has I Love Makonnen f/Drake’s “Tuesday,” leaping #35-24, up over 300 spins, and Nico & Vinz’s “In Your Arms” at #52 and still developing… The Republic crew of Gary Spangler, Davey Dee and Stef Cole have guns a-blazin’ as Drake’s “0-100” goes Top 5 and up 450 spins. They also have Rich Gang f/Young Thug & Rich Homie Quan’s “Lifestyle” at #12, increasing 200 spins, DJ Khaled f/Chris Brown, August Alsina, Future & Jeremih’s “Hold You Down” leaping #21-16 and gaining 325 spins, Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off” moving into the Top 20, Ariana Grande f/The Weeknd’s “Love Me Harder” shooting #33-22 with a 565 spin gain and “Habits (Stay High)” by Island’s Tove Lo sailing #30-23 and adding 350 spins. Just outside the chart is The Weeknd’s “Often,” which looks to chart this coming week… Ayelet Schiffman and James White at Columbia own one of the biggest buzz records in Dej Loaf’s “Try Me.” They’re impacting this week and looking to continue their early success. It’s a major Shazam record and very reactive. They also have Calvin Harris f/John Newman’s “Blame” at #30, up triple-digits, and T.I.’s “About the Money” (Grand Hustle/Columbia) at #32, up 125 spins… Epic’s Sujit Kundu takes Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass” Top 10 this week – a very impressive feat! He also powers Bobby Shmurda’s “Hot Boy” into the Top 20, gaining 200 spins, and has Snootie Wild f/K Camp’s “Made Me” at #55; it continues to build both here and at Urban.
