CROSSOVER
After a bumpy last two weeks, the chart is finally starting to right itself. And it looks like things are getting hot. There were a number of records that were up over 400 spins this week, and took large leaps on the chart. RCA is starting the year off with a full plate. They have the #2 record right now with Kid Ink f/Chris Brown’s “Show Me,” which was up 558 spins. With no real contenders behind it, Kid Ink looks to be the next #1 record. Strazza, Inca, and Lori G also have the #6 record on the chart with Pitbull f/Ke$ha’s “Timber.” This too was up over 550 spins, and should be inside the Top 5 by next week. They’ve got T Pain f/B.o.B’s “Up Down” inside the Top 25, as well as Chris Brown f/Lil Wayne’s “Loyal,” which debuted this week. This Monday, they blasted out Shakira f/Rihanna’s “Can’t Remember to Forget You.” It’s quickly taking hold at Pop, with a number of Rhythm stations putting it in as well… IDJ looks set to start the year off on the right foot and repeat as the Rhythm chart share label of the year. Rick Sackhiem, Noah Sheer, and Scott Maness have YG f/Jeezy & Rich Homie Quan’s “My Hitta” inside the Top 15, up over 250 spins. They also impact Jhene Aiko’s “The Worst” this week. There’s a really solid buzz developing on this track and artist, who has a number of commitments this week… And what a nice start to the year for Columbia! Ayelet Schiffman and James White have their hands full with a plethora of great music. Beyoncé has two records that are skyrocketing up the chart; “Drunk in Love” f/Jay Z vaults #20-13, with an increase of 642 spins, while “XO” climbs #37-31, up 270 spins. Then there’s J Cole’s “She Knows,” which is at #18 and up 164 spins, as well as John Legend’s “All of Me” at #32, up 141 spins. (More Legend news: He’ll be performing at the Grammys.) They’ve got a big buzz record up their sleeves with DJ Snake & Lil Jon’s “Turn Down for What.” It’s selling and on a number of mix shows already, and they’re set to impact this coming week. Look for this one to grow steadily and quickly over the next month. And finally, they’ve got Pharrell Williams’ “Happy.” It’s featured in the “Beats by Dre Pill” national campaign, and has over 21 million views on the video already. The sales are at 61k this week, and the artist is nominated for seven Grammys. It impacts on 1/27… Gary Spangler and Davey Dee at Republic welcome Stefani Cole to their team. She was previously a West Coast regional for WB. They start the year with three Drake tracks on the chart. “Hold On” is currently at #3, “The Language” is at #16 and up over 250 spins, and “All Me” is at #20. SoMo’s “Ride” is at #23 and up 125 spins, and Lorde’s “Team” is climbing #35-30 and increasing almost 300 spins. They debuted Sage the Gemini’s “Red Nose” this week, and officially impact it. The single has already sold over 375k... Lee L’Heureux and WB are off to a great start with Jason Derulo f/2 Chainz’ “Talk Dirty.” It’s the highest-debuting track this week at #29, with an increase of 390 spins… Rachael Spangler and Epic have some irons in the fire. Yo Gotti f/J. Cole & Canei Finch’s “Cold Blood” looks to chart this coming week. They’re geared up for three new releases in the next month: Wallpaper.’s “Hesher” on 1/20, Kat Dahlia’s “Crazy” on 1/27, and Kesington Kross “Gimme Your Love” on 2/10.
